Although disapointed last night these squad players have got to get games under their belts. In an ideal world they should be playing every reserve game but so far at least half of them are on first team call when ever the reserves play.I suppose if you don't play them you'll never know and barring a catastrophe no more than two or three will be called into first team action at any one time.
I agree with you. Infact earlier I posted http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/BBS/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=46354&mid=288893#M288893
Some of them can't play football at Championship level. Factomundo.
Howard, Togwell, Richards, Kay and Reid, by the very nature of their game will at some stage this season be suspended. God forbid 2 of them at the same time and a.n.other injured. Because if we are relying on Wroe, Williams, Mcparland etc then we'd better get points on the board asap.

RE: Why dont we let players go out on loan? Barring Healy, the keeper, Austin, Williams and Wright, all that lot last night should be shipped out to see if they can be toughened up, develop, or cut it as professional footballers. Cos on last night's showing, most them are Stalybridge Celtic bound.
None of this 'they need games' ***** - they couldn't pass to another Reds player, they couldn't control the ball, they were static when we had posession and didn't tackle or track back when MK Dons had the ball - the basics for Christ's sake.
McIndoe came on - a player who must surely be guaranteed a 1st team spot,so nowt to prove, and he showed more desire in 15 minutes than the rest collectively over the 90.
imho, many of them played their way out of Oakwell last night.

Championship status surely brings with it some kudos, Division 2 strugglers prob be open to taking a Championship 'promising starlet', depends on the spin. we've got a team that pretty much picks itself, legitimate reason to be loaning fringe players out. Grimsby came in for Jarman recently, for example. Wroe, Austin, Jarman, McParland and Wright could all get games lower down.......maybe.....
what annoyed me was the fact that they all seemed to want to do Beckhamesque 50 yard raking passes but all miserably failed
however much you may not like DB he practices practices practices to get it right
not just an hour on the training ground and off to the pub
what's wrong with passing to the nearest unmarked player in the same colour shirt??

The challenge is keeping 22 hungry players happy. if all players had the same attitude as Reid, we'd be ok, but watch Devaney's lip come art if he gets dropped to accommodate Nardiello.....if you play **** when given a chance, then maybe you're less vocal when back on the bench. an ambitious player wont kick his heels in the reserves for long...
RE: The challenge I hope they don't try to play Nardy on the wing-he needs to play as 1 of the front 2-bench is my guess and brought on when we're losing/drawing
I'd play Hayes instead of Devaney if Nardy started

RE: what annoyed me was God knows. Perhaps shows that some of them aren't as good as they think they are.

RE: Hayes right mid, Nads up front Wouldn't do that mesen. Granted it worked towards the end of last season but I reckon the quality of footy we are playing this year is due to the wingers. Still reckon Devaney was MOM at Burnley. Ran them ragged.
Burnley - 2 goal McIndoe? if its the same game I went to, Devaney didnt turn up for the first 60 minutes. was commented by 'someone' that he should be made to practise shooting with this left foot all day in training, considering the number of times he cut inside and tamely passed the ball back to the keeper. you're only as good as your last game, and Devaney was on fire against Wolves. If he turns in performances like that consistently, I have no doubts he'll keep his place. but if Nads gets on and nails one of the chances we keep creating and missing, would you be able to drop him? Devaney has one goal, against Blackpool in the Carling......
RE: Burnley - 2 goal McIndoe? Agree his shooting was crap. The free kick wasn't too bad though. I just think he takes a lot of pressure of the defence when he has the ball. It's generally instantly under control and even if he doesn't beat his man the possession is vital. He was quiet in the first half at Burnley but Harley couldn't deal with him in the second. My only complaint was with his final ball, the number of times he opened them up by cutting inside...he should have provided more threat. Thought Macca was quiet but for his goals which admittedly were class.
