Saw a thread on a Rotherham message board where they were ranking the five grounds in order. Unsurprisingly they are biased towards their own stadium but what are the thoughts on here? How would you rank the grounds and why?

    Oakwell - Obviously
Bumhole Lane - Relegated them there and won the FA Cup there
New York Stadium - Looks decent
    Hillsborough - Crumbling
Keepmoat - **** atmosphere, looks like something from ikea

    Don't care.

But we did win the FA Cup at Bumhole Lane so I'd say they get the nod above any other.

We come out of that quite well, had us in the middle. My ranking would be

1 - Bramall Lane, although they have only built one stand in recent history they have refurbished all their old terraces, replace roofs etc and closed in the corners. Compact ground that holds in an atmosphere.

2 - Oakwell, 3 sides of the ground completely rebuilt in the last 20 years, first stadium in SY to have exec boxes. Desperately needs some refurbishment, corners filling in. Would be great little stadium when the West Stand is finally built.

3 - NYS, in my view the best stadium in the country under 20k capacity. Slightly changed the oval shape with different sized stands and sloping roofs, looks nice and compact.

4 - Hillsborough, good in the 90's when it hosted Euro 96 & Semi finals, but now nearly 20 years on its crumbling, out of date and rusty. No new stand built since the country hosted the World Cup back in 66.

5 - Keepmoat, quite possibly the most boring non-descript stadium l've ever sat in, whoever designed it should be thinking of a career change. If l was a supporter l'd have hoped that they had gone ahead and redeveloped the old Belle Vue.

    You got a link?

Bumhole Lane is an absolutely fantastic stadium my opinion, a brilliant example of how to redevelop an old ground whilst retaining the character of the original. Plus it's always a cracking atmosphere in the away end there and I've never seen us lose!

good point on there though - our ground is pretty good, but it is too big for us... that's why we won't be redeveloping the west or filling the corners in any time soon.

It's not too big. Since our return to the Championship we've had enough 18,000 and 20,000+ crowds to make it worthwhile.

not really, we only get them for Leeds and Wednesday, hardly worthwhile when the other 21 games only attract 10-12k

Redevelop the West for a stand that's no bigger in capacity, some pretty nice one tiered stands that hold 4,500 -5,000 around. We would only get a few 100 seats per corner, a total capacity of around 24/25k would be fine. Half empty most of the time but there if we need for the bandwagon games.

    Top crowds since all seater

    11/03/2000 Manchester City Tier 2 22650
    08/03/2008 Chelsea FA Cup 22410
    30/12/2006 Sheff Weds Tier 2 21253
    13/12/2003 Sheff Weds Tier 3 20438
    14/09/2010 Leeds Utd Tier 2 20309
    12/12/2009 Newcastle Tier 2 20079
27/10/2009 Manchester United League Cup 20019
    28/04/2007 Leicester City Tier 2 20012
    18/11/2000 Sheff Weds Tier 2 19989
    04/04/2009 Nottingham Forest Tier 2 19681
    05/02/2005 Sheff Weds Tier 3 19659

Tell me how big the ground should be and I'll tell you why I disagree.
