All change
BARNSLEY boss Andy Ritchie is plotting big changes with three players going out on loan and two potential signings on trial.
Defender Rob Atkinson and striker Nathan Joynes are joining Halifax for a month and midfielder Simon Heslop will be re-joining Tamworth, another Conference team, temporarily. Barnsley triallist Phil Mulryne is to play in today's reserve game at Nottingham Forest. And Ritchie is weighing up a move for former Preston and Sheffield Wednesday keeper David Lucas. The 28-year-old, who left Wednesday in the summer, is training at Oakwell as Barnsley seek goalkeeping cover for Nick Colgan. Centre-back Atkinson went on loan to Scarborough last season and has made two first team appearances as a sub for Barnsley. Joynes has been a prolific scorer for Barnsley reserves this year. He has made one first-team appearance off the bench for Barnsley. Heslop is to play for Barnsley reserves at Nottingham Forest today before going back to Tamworth. He has already made four appearances in the Conference this season for Tamworth. Dale Tonge is also in the Barnsley reserve team today. He has recovered from toe injury. Barnsley reserves: Letheren, Harban, Tonge, R Williams, Meynell, Wroe, Mulryne, McParland, Heslop, Coulson, Jarman. Meanwhile, Tom Soares could miss Crystal Palace's home clash with Barnsley on Saturday with a foot injury. The England Under-21 international midfielder suffered the knock during Saturday's home defeat by Stoke, which left struggling Palace 20th in the Championship.

Fair enough send out the youngsters on loan. But surely we could find at least a league 2 side to take them. Why do they always go out to non-league? And we keep giving trials to waifs and strays, while other teams are trying to bring in players from premier league teams. Its getting more than a little frustrating now. A win on saturday is needed to calm the nerves.
