Anyone else noticed that really bright star in sky over past few nights? It's like in the direction towards Emily Moor

It could be one of the planets, Venus or Jupiter which are known to be at their brightest in late April.

I was also going to say that it could be Venus rather than a star.

It's Venus. Jupiter is also visible in roughly the opposite direction. Easy way to differentiate between planets and stars is to find Sirius (via Orion's belt, Google it). It's the brightest star in the sky, so anything brighter is almost certainly a planet.

Yep it's Venus. If you're interested in what's what I'd recommend the Night Sky app.

    Its Venus.

Top-Tip - If it doesn't appear to twinkle like a star, its a planet.

I'd love to help you but I don't have a clue where Emily Moor is standing right now so I don't know which star you are looking at. Tell her to wave.

Actually it's Emley, the village near Huddersfield, not Emily as in a girls name. Emley Moor is famous for the Yorkshire Television mast. You can see it from miles away especially if your on the M1 Barnsley to Wakefield or the M62 Westwards from Wakefield.
