get the likes of hammil, winnal et-al nailed down on longer deals so if they are tempted away we don't get our legs lifted, I honestly think with this system and this bunch of players we can make a solid foundation to build on and move the club forward

not a cat in hell's chance i'm afraid. hammill, hourihane and winnall should absolutely be playing in the championship next season. if i was their agent i'd be telling them to play out of their skins for the rest of the season, then see what's what..

On what basis should they 'absolutely be playing in the championship'? Hourihane and Winnall are playing for a mid table league one side who were sat bottom a couple of months back and Hammill has just been released by one of the poorer Championship clubs and was unwanted by another one of them in Rotherham. They are all playing extremely well right now and should they continue its a possibility but come on.

You can't judge those players on where we're sat in the table. It would only better Winnall's argument to be playing in a higher league anyway, he'd have 30 goals by now playing for Burton....

I doubt there's many fans would not want this to happen but it isn't going to do for the simple reason neither the club nor players know what league we will be be playing in next season. It makes a huge difference to any negotiations.

Dont get me wrong, I think Winnall in particular is destined for a top end of the league championship side at some point but by no means are any of those 3 absolutely definitely ready for that level now. Hammill still needs to show he's able to do it over a longer period while Hourihane and Winnall still have a lot to learn.
