RNL would be useful right now as well. He'd have slotted in nicely on the opposite flank to Jennings with Berry being able to take Abbotts place in the middle. If Coles fit he could play down the right hand side too. Anyone who saw him play there Rochdale away will know hes capable of that role.
Why can Bailey simply not play in a 4? Could've sworn he started & played well in a 4 in the last 2 home games that we won. Didn't go to Preston but listened to the game and if he did something so bad that he can't play in a midfield 4 again they certainly didn't mention it. Cole played down the left at Rochdale. I can't see him been much use on the right side because his biggest strength was cutting in off the left like Jennings does & he doesn't seem a good crosser of the ball
First half Cole played down the right and had a very good game in that position. On the whole Bailey has been very poor in a 4 this season. He isn't strong enough in the tackle and doesn't have the legs to get around. An extra man in there to do that work for him and his passing game may become effective.
I agree we need an extra man in there but I don't blame Bailey for our midfield problems. He was at the base of the diamond and got left exposed time after time. Overall he's done well in a flat 4
