So Ludwig gone, Murray as temp coach and no new signings.

I think Murray changed to a 5 3 2 when he took over last year, if my memory serves

    So
    Walton
    William, Solb, Anderson, hilik, odour
    Thomas, styles, mowatt
    Woodrow, Chaplin

On face value it doesn't look a bad team, and bench is better then last year as we have Simoes, freezer, Halme, Schmit etc

I like that team. In fact it vindicates me in my thoughts that Struber was the problem. That team would have beaten Luton, Reading, Coventry and Middlesbrough. We've blown an easy start fixture wise through poor tactics.

I agree, whether he was trying to make a point or just isn't as good we thought. I think we should have done better on paper. Yes we need to sign a couple of positions but we should be good enough to beat the likes of Reading. Luton are our boggy team so I didn't expect much bar a draw there, and we already beat Boro in Cup

    I'd go 4-4-2,

    GK: Walton
    RB: Williams
    LB: Odour
    CB: Andersen
    CB: Sollbauer
    RM: Frieser
    CM: Palmer
    CM: Mowatt
    LM: Styles
    CF: Woodrow
    CF: Schmidt

Subs: Collins, Helik, Thomas, Simoes, Chaplin.

I know Styles would prefer to be in the middle, but I think he'd have more license to get forward from the left and would link up well with Odour. And Palmer would give Mowatt more freedom in the middle.

I like that team too. However, I think Helik is too good a player to be warming the bench.

I wouldn't play 5 3 2, I'm basing it on what Murray will play from before

Also I think Thomas is our best link up player after Styles so should start

My only gripe with Murray he hates long range shooting and prefers possession based game. Isn't that what we have at the minute?

    That front 5’s atrocious together.

Individually they might have good attributes but it’s about as lightweight as it gets.

Mowatt & Styles are good footballers but could do with someone with physical presence alongside them. I’d happily have Halme in there as I thought he did a good job when Struber first took over & we played our best football under him then but it needs someone, maybe Palmer I don’t know.

If I was manager I’d probably go -

    Walton
    J. Williams Solbauer Anderson (or Helik) Oduor
    Halme
    Frieser Styles Mowatt Thomas
    Woodrow

I don’t think that’s ideal as I’d prefer Woodrow to have a strike partner to play off but I don’t think we’ve got anyone that can perform that role so I’d use him as a loan striker & get us to be flexible in attack with Frieser joining the attack like Brown used to do off the right in league one when Woodrow had to play as a lone striker when Moore was injured.

I've nothing against any of Sollbauer, Helik or Andersen individually, but am not sure they work as a back three. When Williams played there he offered some cover defence and had license to get forward. Almost like a sweeper on the left of the three.

I am confident it won't be Murray. I reckon we've a domestic coach lined up knowing Struber wasn't likely to be around for long. I wouldn't be surprised if it's that certain that we won't even have a temporary caretaker in charge. I could be reading too much in to a couple of our overseas players leaving but I reckon it's a new domestic coach making it clear to the board they need to let some go so he can bring in some British lads.
