The club are essentially embarking on a "project" to build a successful club using only the funds they generate. Whilst it isn't going brilliant at the moment, the signs are definitely there that it has the potential to work and continuing to maintain Championship status has to be the aim at the moment. Keith Hill seems to involve himself in all areas of the club, from the business side to picking a team - far different from the dark days of Spackman and Parkin who, in relative terms, had a lot more cash at their disposal. If anything, Keith Hill is one of the most forward-thinking people at the club. The rest of the behind the scenes staff are the ones who don't seem to have the ideas as an outsider looking in - yes this comes down to finance, but I do feel that others could do a much better within the same financial constraints. I think we should stop laying the blame with Keith Hill for the signings he's made - yes a few of them have been questionable but every manager must make 2 bad signings out of every ten. It must be said that most of the lower league players signed have shown in periods that they are good enough for the Championship with some being sought after by our rivals. Lets start supporting the team and Hill's decisions, even if it only helps them by 1% it will be a boost - it's fair to assume that Keith Hill does read posts on here as he even mentioned the other day he read a fans blog, and it would also be fair to assume that some of the players read what is said on here as well. It can't help knowing that they are being shot-down by the fans when they are trying their best. Wiseman playing centre back seems to have got a lot of fans backs up - at the end of the day we don't watch training every day and if Wiseman is better than Cranie, Edwards (might be injured?) and Hassell in training then we have to accept that. I've only seen one game live this season and Wiseman did play very well (against Boro), but I'm sure once McNulty is fit he will slot straight back in his place. Our real issue is scoring goals, as it has been for several seasons now. I'm sure Davies and Harewood will scores double figures this season, maybe even Mido with Cwyka and Mellis chipping in with 8 or 9 from midfield but I'd like to see us bite the bullet and buy a proper proven goalscorer - only trouble is that would cost well over a million which we supposedly don't have and isn't guaranteed to work out - my argument (although it's a gamble) is that if doing nothing costs us our Championship status then it will cost the club a lot more than getting a decent striker in.
Re: Starting to get the feeling all this "Hill Out" stuff is more than a joke for mos I tend to agree jedstar, I just hope we can hang on in the Championship long enough for the project to come good.
Re: Starting to get the feeling all this "Hill Out" stuff is more than a joke for mos Dropping down to league one in itself doesn't worry me that much - it's getting back out of it that's the problem, 2006-07 was a bit of a fluke, we didn't pull any trees up in that division, held on to play-off place and won the lottery as it were - doing that again, especially given some of the giants down there would almost be as difficult as finishing in the top six of the Championship.
Re: Starting to get the feeling all this "Hill Out" stuff is more than a joke for mos im not knocking keith hill but even stevie wonder can see where the problem lies the DEFENCE keith sort it and sort it now or we wont be away from the bottom regions of the table at all this season.
Re: Starting to get the feeling all this "Hill Out" stuff is more than a joke for mos If Wiseman is better than Cranie:- 1. Why did we sign him? 2. He should pack in 3. I'll do an elephant impression on the pitch after the last home game.
Re: Starting to get the feeling all this "Hill Out" stuff is more than a joke for mos Not the lucky to get promoted thing again, we reached the play offs because we were one of the most consistent, and therefore one of the best teams in the division. We won the play offs fair and square. The first division is a pub league and I hated the 4 seasons we spent there. That is why I'm so desperate that we don't get relegated
