For me: Davies McCarthy MacDonald Pinnock Pearson Hedges Mallan Sessi Hammill Payne Ugbo Subs: Townsend, Yiadom, Potts, Mowatt, Moncur, Williams, Bradshaw
Wouldn't want to make too many changes as the team need have as much time as possible playing together in my opinion. Big enough task on integrating 11 new players without constantly chopping and changing. Therefore I'd go for: Davies McCarthy MacDonald Pinnock Yiadom Hedges Moncur Williams Hammill Brown Ugbo
I know the team I've gone with I've made 7 changes but how I took Hecky's interview from yesterday it does sound like he's going to give as many players an opportunity for tonight's game. And I think we'll see 2 or 3 changes per match until Hecky has found his starting 11.
Think Mallan and Sessi need a chance to show what they can offer as I fear these are the 2 that will be sent out on loan to accommodate the 22 first team players Hecky has outlined he wants after the transfer window closes.
I know we shouldn't play 1 up front at home against lower opposition but we need to get used to a formation for the type of players we have. Pick the strongest side available in thier correct positions. Davies Pearson Mcdonald Pinnock Yiadom Potts Williams Moncur Mallan Hammill Ugbo Stick to this and swap players down to form, injury return or new signings. Mcgeehan Isgrove Mowatt Hedges Fryers Lyndsay Mccarthy Bradshaw Payne etc when they have earnd thier place in traing
For me: Townsend McCarthy Jackson Pinnock Pearson Hedges Mallan Sessi Mowatt Payne Bradshaw Subs: Davies, Yiadom, Potts, Hammill, Moncur, Williams, Ugbo Reasons: Am not a massive Townsend fan, but Davies is going to be key these next few weeks and needs all the rest and focus he can get. Ditto Macdonald, although I would like to see another pairing regardless. Mowatt I still believe has something to offer (his confidence must be shot, esp if he reads this board) so makes sense to play him over Hammill. We know what Hammill can do, he has nothing to prove; he's another who will benefit from managed game-time early season. Payne over Ugbo purely because we need to see once and for all if the Payne / Bradshaw combo has anything to offer.
He's not done much since his early season promise last year, hence the reason let him start a game like this. I'm more intrigued as to how Bradshaw plays next to Payne - gotta be worth a try, its about the only front formation yet to be tested
Please for God sake don't start Sessi. I don't understand all the hype around him. He'll end up out on loan to a league 2 club this season.
Davies Yiadom Mallan Moncur Mowatt Sessi Williams Potts Hedges Hammill Bradshaw Confuse the hell out of them, and us.
Perfect game for Hammill this - he should tear league 2 defenders apart. Good for his confidence, the team's confidence and the fans.
