We were never going to get owt from Wolves So its no surprise or major disappointment we lost today BUT The recent news that concerns me more is that Blackwell has turned the job down and Shep has given the job to a rookie We now hear there is money to spend on players Its been reported that there is £2 Mil to spend If the board do bring players in like Williamson while retaining our better players such as Howard and Hassel then the situation we have found ourselves in can be put firmly at the door of Ritchie We should have had players lined up before we went to Cardiff But at this time of the season - is it now too late to spend on players ??? For example - panic buying and trying to get players to gell while under pressure - plus not knowing what league we will be in next season Should we prepare for the 1st division and accept it ??? Hull and Leeds have bigger better squads than us and I'm sure one or both will pull clear of relegation With the appointment of Davey and not Blackwell it seems the directors are preparing for the worse Gordon Shephard needs to make a statement on what has been said or the rumour of what has been said to the Yorkshire Post by Blackwell If he dosen't make that statement - fans may start calling for him to resign during matches
"the situation we have found ourselfs in can be put firmly at the door of Ritchie" - how do you work that out? Was Ritchie told after Cardiff that he had 2mil to spend? No. I think the opposite - if Davey is given 2mil then in my opinion the blame for this situation falls on Shepherd. Without wanting to call you naive, do you believe that money will be made available without selling someone first. After everything that's happened lately, I can only assume any new signings will be replacements for likes of Howard.
We have'nt got 2,000,000 pound to spend if we did we would have signed Chopra & kept Mcphail and been witness to the cow jumping over the moon.
Have I missed something? What has Blackwell "allegedly" said? I've been away for a few days & tried to trawl through the posts that were made after my last logon but, given that there were 15 pages of posts, I could have overlooked a post of interest!
RE: Have I missed something? It's been alledged that he was offered the job but turned it down due to players already being lined up to bring in that he didn't want and that the deals were done.
RE: Have I missed something?........Yes mate, you have missed the most frightening post ever on here Without trawling through the lot of the posts This is what National Red posted yesterday after speaking with the Yorkshire Post Blackwell has spoken to the Yorkshire Post In a nutshell this is what he said................. Blackwell was offered the job and refused it because he wasn't going to be allowed to strengthen the squad There are 3 players to leave - Hassel and Howard names have been mentioned There are 3 players to come in - all have already agreed to join the club Blackwell has watched Barnsley for 4 times recently and has identified 6 players that needed replaceing According to Blackwell, Barnsley have little ambition to stay in the Championship Shep then appoints the rookie Davey
RE: Nudger, why do you believe what Gordon Shepherd says.........simple Because Shep and PC told us during a public meeting that they were having problems with Ritchie Ritchie would not talk to the board of directors - there was little or no communication from Ritchie They went on to say that they were offering him money for players and asking him to pursue certain players but he refused Money has been there all the time for players THIS MEETING TOOK PLACE IN THE MIDDLE OF LAST SEASON But unfortunatly (says with tongue in cheek) for Shep, Ritchie gets us promoted If we hadn't won in Cardiff - I think Ritchie would have gone We continued into this season with basically the same squad - Ritchies buddy buddy tactics Even though an handfull of us knew this was going to blow up in our face especially if we got any injuries or suspensions And still it was reported that Shep was trying to get Ritchie to bring players in Finally - Ritchie gets sack Followed by panic loans to kick start the season Followed by other deals that have been secured leaving no space for a future manager (Blackwell) to manouver Followed by appointing a rookie manager
