Reading a piece in The Sunday times ..... A hosital in Birmingham is used as an overspill for wounded soldiers coming back from Irag and Afghanistan....... fellow soldiers have been banned from visiting their mates in Hospital in Uniform - It could 'cause offence' to Muslim staff or visitors !!!!! Only in this pathetic country could this happen.......
Perhaps they should remember that It wasn't Staff or Visitors that put em in hospital it was, yes you guessed it.
Another ridiculous story to pamper to the weak brained. My local hospital has soldiers in uniform in it all the time and even has consultants who wear army uniform whilst touring the wards. Reckon the story will be slack journalism getting quotes from squaddies or some rant by a fascist celebrity like Jeremy Clarkson.
t wasn't Staff or Visitors that put em in hospital it was, yes you guessed it. Probably the Americans?
Due to our underfunding of the armed forces so we don't upgrade our recognition systems to integrate with the US one.
I think we all know this sort of thing goes on.... </p> ...some muslim somewhere is always bloody offended about something but every time something like this comes up the usual suspectsmove straight to discredit the source. Isolated incident, blah blah, slack journalism, blah, facist this, racist that. Until we addressour problems honestly they're going to continue to get worse. </p>
RE: I think we all know this sort of thing goes on.... Half the time it isn't a Muslim who's offended, it's someone who thinks a Muslim may be offended. Although why soldiers should be walking around in uniform out in "civvy street" anyway I'm not sure.
A very, very small part of a fair more important story about how injured soldiers are treated and cared for, and in trying to create specialist centres for the military. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/sunday_times_appeal/article2982756.ece The bit you comment on is an aside to the overall story. As to the reasoning behind such a request It probably stems from this http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/10/02/ntroops02.xml And you would want to avoid such occurances as they can be upsetting to all parties, can create friction and argument in a place where people are ill and require peace and quiet. But the real issue is the lack of specialist provision for military wounded in action.
So according to you...... my brain is weak for believing a story I read in the Times. Are you always discrediting other people because you hear something you dont want to hear..... The way this coutry is i have every reason to believe ......... and I a soldier wants to walk around in his uniform..... so what, let him
RE: I think we all know this sort of thing goes on.... Look, I share your in depth analysis of the problem that "some muslim somewhere" will be offended. Do I think there is a problem regarding muslims and western tolerant values? Yes, there is and it's going to be the biggest ideologocal battle of this century. We haven't seen anything yet and need to be ready for the trouble ahead. However, I do think that many people look for any stupid example of what is called political correctness to imply that the Nation is pathetic and in a right mess. I also know for a fact that many newspapers make up stuff or erroneously highlight certain people's comments or views to make a story fit the angle that is being taken. I'd be very surprised if the NHS has banned solidiers from wearing uniforms in hospitals no matter what the Sunday Times says. If they have then my local hospital needs taking to task.
Fair point EastStander,...... and yes the jist o fthe story is about lack of military facilities - its just that point caught my eye The othe link to th etelegraph is even more disturbing........ like I said, only in this sad country could this happen. But eh......... according to bright red its all lies anyway.....
The government send young men and women off to war on shitty pay, leave them under equipped and in some cases under trained, andthen when theycome backshow in many cases complete disregard for their physical and mental well being. The fact the hospital bannedpeople fromwearing a uniform seems to be the least of these peoples problems.</p> Article here: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/sunday_times_appeal/article2982756.ece</p> </p>
If you believe everything you read in the any paper then you need to wake up quick. I don't think many people mind seeing soldiers wearing uniform although I think the army have strict rules as to when and where they can (quite rightly).
I think you'd be surprised as to how badly vet's are treated. There are many already on the living homelesson the streets of the US and even UK. Besides........</p> </p> </p><p class="inside-copy">http://www.usatoday.com/news/military/2007-11-22-braininjuries_N.htm</p></td></tr></tbody></table>
I think i have enough intelligence to realise all this. The atricle didnt say all hospitals, it just mentioned the one in birmingham - so you're generalising on assumptions. And I dont really know when soldiers can on cannot wear their uniforms but that isnt my point......... it was quite simple really...... its disgusting muslim people can dictate whether a soldier can or cannot wear his unoform while visiting another soldier in one particular hostpital.
You were the one making generalisations not me. I read your last sentence with contempt - even the article doesn't imply that.
