http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/ar...on-takeover-speculation-30012014-1326778.aspx PUBLISHED 09:57 30th January 2014 From time to time the owner of Barnsley Football Club, Mr Patrick Cryne, receives unsolicited approaches to buy the Club, which has recently led to speculation about a takeover. These are referred to his advisors to evaluate whether they have the necessary substance to develop the Club going forward and that the prospective buyer’s objectives can be met without compromising the ethos of the Club. To date, offers have not met these criteria. No offers are being evaluated at present and the focus of everyone connected with the Club is on improving our league position without distraction. Oh dear. I fear the Chron may have lost more credibility on the back of this. Unhelpful distraction at a time when we need focus on the job. This has forced a Club statement. Hope we can all now get back to the job in hand. Again. Poor work Murray and co. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A shining example of the improved communications from the club. Brief, to the point, completely clear. Anything on Murray's twitter?
upon reading that, I would not be at all surprised if... we have new owners before the end of the season.
Murray has just tweeted. Sounds like he's already receiving 'abuse'. I condemn that, but he was always going to get a rough ride if this turned out to be nothing. Has done no good to anybody. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I disagree. Clearly Murray has received solid information about an offer to buy the club. The club statement doesn't deny it, it just states that any approaches there have been have not met the 'required criteria'. Cryne makes no secret of the fact that he wants out. We can't bury our heads forever, eventually that 'criteria' will be met and we'll have a new owner for better or worse. Perhaps the Chron could have sat on this story for the benefit of the club but I'd much prefer the local paper to hold the club accountable rather than be a mouthpiece. Nudging the club to make a statement and keep us all in the loop doesn't do any harm in my book.
This one's gonna be divisive. Bottom line for me is we had this last season, and the speculation derailed us. The bigger priority was to prevent that happening again, and The Chron went in a different direction. I'm not one bit surprised that they will now come in for some stick. They're gonna have to take it on the chin I'm afraid. They would have been milking their 'scoop', if the takeover had gone through. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well I suppose had the bid been accepted it could have happened within a few days. The transfer window has created a deadline for takeovers at all clubs. Most new owners choose to have their own people in charge and the ability to make funds available to a current/new manager. This story broke very close to the end of the transfer window but who knows for how long discussions have been going on? Folk are acting like Murray has made it all up. The club statement doesn't suggest that to me.
as Oxford says , Mr Cryne is up for selling on the fact that none have met his expectations does not mean there are no offers past or present. Since The new lot came in most of our business has been conducted close to their chests as it were. I think there will be a take over in the future and I think before the end of the season too. I hope that Mr Cryne and his colleagues are taking a very deep look at offers and that if or when it comes it is a good deal all round. This is not a Wind Up Tom its my opinion, make of it whatever you want.
as I have said to Tomfun its just an opinion, Gally, and not a wind up attempt Read what I have said 5 mins ago in a reply to Tomfun re Oxfords statement.
