It's early days but Johnson has the best Points Per Game ratio, excluding interim bosses, since Bassett. 1.48 He also has the best Clean Sheets/Games ratio, again - interim bosses excluded, since before Wilson's first spell and I haven't gone back any further than that. 33% They're just statistics. Take them or leave them. I find them interesting so I thought I'd post them in case anyone else does.
Does a points per game ratio in league 1 count the same as one in the championship? I would be surprised he has a better one than Ritchie had in this division
No he doesn't. Ritchie had 60 games in League One including the three play-off matches. His points total (if the play-off matches earned points) was 93 so his ratio was better in League One alone at 1.55. However throw the Championship matches he had with us in there and it's pulled down to 1.38. It's an interesting topic though because should you take into account the league we were in? from a pure statistical point of view? The opposition were different but then so were our players. So was our budget. Proportionally smaller yes. Without getting into all the other factors that can dictate success and failure and purely from a points per game point of view though I'd say he's on the right track and if we can just turn the odd draw into a win we'll show the kind of form that got us to the play-off final.
Since you ask, our least potent era in front of goal came under Simon Davey. Again I'm only including matches as far back as Wilson's first spell. We only scored in 60% of league matches we played under him. 40% of the time the opposition got a clean sheet. Bassett leads the way there too with 81.9% of matches scored in. Johnson comes in at 76.2% so far. He's also not doing too bad with clean sheets either with 33%, the best ratio as far back as Wilson's first spell excluding interim bosses.
Won 8. (5 at home, 3 away) Drawn 7. (4 at home, 3 away) Lost 6. (4 away, 2 at home) Scored 30. (1.43 per game) (18 at home, 12 away) Conceded 24. (1.14 per game) (8 at home, 16 away) 31 points from 21 games. (1.48 per game) (19 at home, 12 away) We've come from behind to win on two occasions under him. We've come from behind to draw on four occasions under him. We've scored two or more goals in seven games under him. We've kept seven clean sheets under him. Sam Winnall has scored the most goals for him (6). We haven't lost a Tuesday night game under him. (4) *Only league games accounted for.
He must also have clocked up the least number of minutes for recognised forwards on the pitch, per game!
31 points from 21 games. Puts us on course for mid 60s points and to finish about where we did last year. Give or take a dodgy penaltuvor two.
If you don't include last season, then it's 10 points from 7 games, which is 1.42 points per game and thus worse after 'sorting Wilson mess out'.
Im not really that bothered with stats either I put that to see how long before I got a bite. There is only one status what matters the league table see where we are in may and then we will see how well leejay has done.
'Manager with one of the biggest budgets in the league has a better points per game record than several managers who had one of the smallest budgets in the league shocker'
So your saying adkins and Sheffield United should be pissing this league? And the one he replaced had a bigger budget I think due to financial fair play?
