Davey has a worse ppg than Paul Hart, does that mean we should never have sacked Hart? Gord, get him back quick, looks like you forgot to check the stats.
RE: Anyone know what happened to Percy Lewis Think we did. He wouldn't sign players he thought weren't good enough.
And another thing Barnsley lost plenty of matches under Lewis but they are not on his record as they were during the war
Disregarding the points per game Daveys done ok on the wins I would expect an average manager to have a WinDrawLoss record which would get a team 1.33 points per game, giving an end sum in the Championship of 61 points or thereabouts. Davey took over after 18 games with 15 points in the kitty? I think. If he was an average manager, he had 28 matches left which would yield 9 wins, 9 draws and 9 defeats with one match as a random WDL. That would leave us with 15 + 36=51 or 15 + 37=52 or 15 + 39=54 depending on the result of the spare match. He currently has a WDL record of 7-3-11, so to get as close as possible to a WDL average with 9 games remaining he will win two more and draw seven giving him/us 38 points + 6 + 7 = 51 points. However we don't seem to draw many at all this season - 5 so far - so we will have to do it the hard way with four wins and maybe one draw. It's getting tighter and tighter down at the bottom. Prediction; last day cliffhanger with any three from 6 or 7 teams to go down.
Good job the ref didn't see Atkinsons full length dive against Burnley or his record would look bleak.
RE: Good job the ref didn't see Atkinsons full length dive against Burnley Or the handball by the Sunderland defender from Brian Howard's header the other day. The stats would then look better!!
