Anybody else feel this is essential? I'm sure the club will have plans for this, costs will obviously be an issue, perhaps it could end up being down to fans to raise funds. How much did that statue of Harold Bird cost? Stick an extra tenner on next years season ticket price? Or i suppose we could ask Connor to lend us a months wages, then pay him back after we beat Villa in playoff final? In all seriousness - Statue for Rimmo.
did he have a particular seat? Wonder if we could ensure its always left empty? Or take a leaf out of the olympian letter boxes, painted gold in their home towns? I wonder if a statue would be too grand for the incredible man. Instead something humble.... but something extremely heartfelt?
For me the best way of remembering Rimmo would be to name the west stand after him.... That way he will always be part of Oakwell.
Re: perhaps if his family think so then yes. I can't imagine they'd object to any form of suitable commemoration.
why would they what? all I am saying is that its good protocol that's all. If someone wanted to put up a plaque to honor my departed Mum or Dad I would be pleased but I would also want them to speak with me first about it.
Re: why would they what? No worries apologies if I've offended anyone, I'm not exactly at planning permission stage like, it was just message put on the internet.
