Did I hear the commentator say that Bristol is the biggest city never to have had a team in the top division? If I did, he's wrong.
At least two excellent saves from Steele tonight. Ex-Reds Smith and Brownhill had fantastic games as well. Interesting that both Smith and Brownhill were slated during their time at Oakwell for being “powderpuff” and “passing sideways and backwards”.
Yes he is wrong. They have played in the top flight. As seems to be the norm football did not exist before the Premier League. As bad as Chelsea fans singing " Champions of England, you'll never sing that" at Huddersfield
Pulled of a couple of great saves. Fair play to Bristol. They were excellent tonight. Sometimes you just have to congratulate another team.
brownhill was an excellent player for us and certainly wasn’t stated at all if I remember correctly. Smith was a strange one as he was a youngster making his way, his talent is blossoming now it seems.
I’m not sure Brownhill was slated. I think the majority of fans would’ve wanted him to stay here. I certainly did. If I remember correctly, Smith had an amazing first 45 minutes in his loan spell and then went downhill pretty quickly. He’s developed well in his time at Bristol though.
That probably says more about the “tweeters” than brownhills performances for us. I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking he was generally really good for us.
As above, Brownhill was consistently lambasted throughout his time at Oakwell on Twitter. People seemed aggrieved that he was keeping the more aggressive/tough tackling Scowen out of the side and that we had a defensive midfielder who wasn’t particularly strong in the challenge. FYI, I was a huge Brownhill fan. Just calling it as it was at the time.
Oh really? Didn’t know that about Brownhill getting slated on twitter. Scowen was definitely a fan favourite though (particularly for his tough tackling) wasn’t he? So I guess there was at least some logic to it. I was a big Brownhill fan too, glad to see him doing well.
