Seems to me that none of the parties are really o blame for the situation we now find ourselves in. Barnsley however.....need to learn a lesson from this in that it makes sense to ALWAYS have at least 2 half decent keepers in their squad at anyone time. No disrespect to Letheran but from what i have seen - and heard - the lad would prove to be a bit of a liabilty (think he let in 6 in a reserve game recently.) So where do we go from here? Well, why can't Barnsley offer to pay Steele's wages till the end of the season (which they have said they will) and pay WBA an additional downpayment for his services - say £100k. Leave the possible permanent transfer to be discussed at the end of the season. WBA would save money in wages and get a £100k lump sum, we get the keeper we want until at least the end of the season. If Barnsley agree to the permanent transfer then Steele - to keep his side of the bargain - would have to take a wage cut and WBA could use some/all of the £100k to pay up the remaining part his contract. So Steele gets up to £100k in his back pocket to subsiside the cut in wages. He get's a possible permant transfer, WBA save money on his wages and possibly get him off the books and we get the keeper we want till the end of the season. Feel free to pick holes in this idea!!!!
