If McCann plays he might be able to mark McPhail ,

only problem is they can both only turn one way so may end up chasing each other round in circles.

    RE: That's very subjective

and my opinion is, and has been for sometime, although I have been slated for those views in the past, is that McCann is better than McPhail

And I'll voice those opinions again
McPhail makes pretty patterns all over the field with his passing skills although these passers are usually ineffective in hurting the opposition. But it must be said that he is a better passer of the ball than McCann
    However
McCann covers more of the field gets forward more and is a bigger threat infront of goal, he can tackle better and he has a much better shot (although he dosen't use it as much as he should)

(givinfinger) come on lets have the abuse............or are some of you starting to think the same (chinny) especially after last Saturday

I liked Walters. I thought he desperately needed a goal from somewhere but his willingness and movement impressed me. Im glad to see hes doing well although I hope he has a mare against us.

I agree with you, Young Nudger

McPhail can play pretty passes, and in Div 1 against players/teams who lacked technique he did look good. However, in this division I think he'd have been a luxury we could have done with out.

When playing two in centre mid they, in my opinion, need to have the main three attributes between them of 1) box to box ability 2) getting back to defend/tackling ability and 3) attacvking instinct e.g running past the attackers and getting into goal scoring positions.

To me, McFrail couldn't do box to box, his tackling wasn't upto much and as for attacking, he was lucky to get past the half way line let alone into the opposition box (a few exceptions I know - Oldham and Bournemouth away). If you had someone who could do all three, such as Redfearn or Patrick Viera, then fair enough. However, if not it puts too much pressure on the other midfielder.

Probably my turn for the abuse!

    All true

Never saw anything in McPhail. I was more than happy he left. Not that I think Grant McCann is much of an improvement, although I hope he proves me wrong.

    Problem with me is...................but

    But I'm too soft
But I ort to have a little black book like Jack Charlton had and any abuse I get I could write the name of the perpetrater down and then bring their comments up at a later date
    But I haven't
But I can assure you that I got some right stick the last time I compared McCann and McPhail
But those who gave the abuse will remember who they are (dependent on amount of brain cells of course)
But then again if I didn't get the abuse............then I wouldn't have much to laugh at on here (babyhaha) (babyhaha) (babyhaha)

But but but, butting hell fire !!!

    Difference is...

McCann can shoot and has shown to be a decent finisher - certainly in warm-ups - he doesn't get many chances during games as he doesn't get too far forward but certainly does more than McPhail.

Also gets stuck in a bit sometimes which people don't always give him credit for. Could be a little bit tougher though.

I agree. Didn't get much luck in front of goal with us but has taken a step back in order to move forwards. Good luck to him.
