Anyone know why he left Man City after 33 days in charge? Heard rumours at the time, but never saw the official story anywhere.
He lost the dressing room. They waited as long as they could for him to turn up but got fed up and appointed someone else.
the gay thing was apparently going to be exposed by the MEN used to know a guy who was high up with them, also a big city fan and he told me a number of tales re SC and why he was forced to quit, having said that i cant see why if they were true they havnt been exposed since, they were quite sordid
You are quite correct The reason he left was due to his current boyfriend (at the time) not wanting to move out of London and join him in Manchester, allegedley from a member of the Man City groundsmen team. Got to a stalemate and rather than have the public know about it just quit his job. How its never been revealed again is beyond me!
that was exactly what I was wondering...... ....why nothing has been mentioned of it since. I used to work with a big City fan, and he told me that straight after his resignation (was it after we beat them 2-0?), someone phoned up GMR's equivalent of Praise or Grumble, and said something along the lines of "is it true that Steve Coppell has resigned as City boss because he's a raging homosexual?!". The presenter just cut the call apparently.
