For those who attended Kirk Balk School, Hoyland, English teacher andHoyland Vikings founderSteve Creek has died suddenlyat the age of 48.
I fondly remember himas one of the brightest, funniest and most natural teachers I ever had - rest in peace.

Regards from all at Elsecar Cricket Club as well Go to the family and friends of Creeky who spent many an hour in the club.
RIP

I'll second that as well, I was at Kirk Balk when Steve arrived, and joined the Rugby team that he started there and later the Vikings when he started that. He was always dedicated to the sport and very much an inspiration to those he coached and taught. R.I.P. Steve.
There will be a minutes silence for Steve at the televised Sheffield Eagles match tomorrow night. He introduced rugby league to the Barnsley area in 1984 and is the main reason why amatuer rugby league is thriving locally.
and from me and my family. My kids were at Kirk Balk and they are saddened to hear the news. When, on occasion,I had reason to speak with him I found him to be very curteous and helpful.
RIP

Top Man Never had him as a teacher, but as a rugby coach and mate he was one of the best. Tell you what, he was a big lad but he could motor, when he got hold of the ball you got out of his way. When I was in the school rugby team we won the Wakefield Area Challenge Cup, not bad going from a school in Barnsley where there is no tradition of League, we had to play teams from schools that had it ingrained in them from birth. But Creaky sorted us out.
Oh bugger, Top Man As wide as he was tall. Could send a blackboard rubber skimming just above head height across the classroom towards the miscreants. Full of life and cheery man. Last saw him at the Elsecar Cricket club bar a couple of years ago.
