Very sad indeed RIP He was a great entertainer and passionate naturalist. Steve leaves a wife and two children. I read his biography a couple of years ago, and he was well aware of the dangers he worked with.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/5311298.stm

It always comes in THREES...........Charlie Williams, Keith Hooson, Steve Irwin In different ways, sad to hear about these deaths Charlie because first and foremost he was a Gentleman Keith because I spent time working with him Steve because he promoted wildlife conservation issues
I allus thought he was a nutter that rode a little too close to danger. At least his family can live with the thought that he died whilst doing what he loved.
He was always likely to be killed filming. First time I saw his programme I thought it was a spoof - only the fact it was on the Discovery Channel made me think it was for real. Quite a character.
RIP... to a great entertainer who yes did some stupid things in his time but knew how to make people interested in him.
RE: RIP... Out of all the things that could have killed him, it was down to a Stingray. Had Sky News on this morning, and they reckon it could be a accident rather than him getting 'up close' to the Stingray.

Very sad news indeed The kids have spent hundreds of hours watching him, a real character. Not looking forward to telling them.
RIP Steve Irwin God bless to the craziest creature to walk the earth, That man knew how to live life on the edge, God bless to him and his family
RE: RIP... He was filming a documentary so it's likely theres footage of what happened that the authorities will stucdy.
Much as I find that news regrettable ... the guy was an accident waiting to happen. There is only so far you can go to get close up to your chosen vocation, and he was often too close for a creature's comfort and percieved safety.
RE: Much as I find that news regrettable Early indications are though that this was a complete accident, rather than Steve Irwin actually going after a Stingray. A Stingray's instincts when people are near is to swim away, very rarely they actually attack humans.
RE: Very sad news indeed Wife's already told them. Grandma phoned up at 9 o'clock anyway mind to tell then, so I think they would have found out.
RE: Much as I find that news regrettable However, the stingray does have a venomous sting to use in defensive situations. They don't go around attacking people unless they feel threatened. I've watched some of Irwins 'nature' programs, he regularly puts creatures into situations where they feel threatened. Got what he deserved in my book.
