The 24th September will be the 6th anniversary of the death of Steve Scargill. I will be meeting with his widow Deirdre and son Tim at the Blackpool game and pausing for a few moments to remember him by his brick in the Wall of honour outside the Ponty End. I know that there are some people who post here and who provided much appreciated support to Steve during his long battle against cancer. If anyone wants to join us please feel free to do so. we will be at the wall at about 2:30 on Saturday.
I never met Steve but I will never forget him, which is kinda weird. 95% of stuff posted on this board is meaningless fluff, but over the years there's been belly aching laughs and truly thought provoking insight. Steve's input was up there with the best on both fronts.
Has it really been six years already? I never met Steve either, but some of his posts were truly inspirational.
Again like Jay - I never met Steve but I will remember the stuff he wrote on here with great affection. Crikey 6 years has rushed passed and it only seems like yesterday. Send our regards to his family.
For those that perhaps didn't read the BBS back then we created a special forum to archive Steve's diary which can be found here You may need to change the settings on the page to view posts from all time.
Had the pleasure of an executive box piss up with Steve. Top bloke, and one of the most insightful and likeable posters ever to have appeared on the bbs in all of its incarnations. Can't believe it's been six years. Please pass on my best wishes to his family.
I had the pleasure of meeting and corresponding with Steve a number of times. What a top man, and as others have said, an inspiration to many, including myself. Please pass on my good wishes to his family.
Didn`t know the guy in the flesh, but through his diary entries it was as though he were family or a best mate. Best wishes to his family.
I won't be there but I would like to pass best wishes on to his family. An insightful and funny poster who, with the current bilge from therev and others polluting the board, is missed more so now than ever. On a personal note, my 3 year old daughter suffers from neurofibromitosis (I'm not sure what Steve suffered from) so a lot of his posts are particularly relevant (and therapeutic) to what me and the missus are going through at the moment.
