I find it difficult to believe that it is now 8 years since Steve lost his fight against cancer. I remain in touch with his widow Deirdre. We are planning to meet up for the Scunny game in November.
Pass on our best - his diaries & musings were a point of rationale and circumspection in the mentalness that is this site sometimes.
Steve was a great help to Laura when times were a bit rough for her. He's still sorely missed by her and the rest of us.
Not in exactly the right order but here are some of Steve Scargill's "Dear Diary" posts which moved a lot of people on here and in particular on the predecessor of this site. http://bbs.barnsleyfc.org.uk/forumd...=&pp=30&daysprune=-1&sort=lastpost&order=desc Worth a read in front on most of stuff that's posted on here IMHO. Can't believe it's been 8 years. RIP Steve.
It cant be 8 years can it? Bloody hell it doesnt seem like 2 minutes since I was last reading the latest installment of his diary. RIP Steve
If you don't mind me asking, how is Laura now? I seem to remember she had serious medical problems herself.
Hello mate, hope things are well down your way. Laura started her second year at the University of Cumbria yesterday, studying Forensic Science. She was based on the Newton Rigg campus last year, just outside Penrith. This year she's based on the Ambleside campus. Since her kidney transplant three years ago, Laura has steadily grown physically stronger (touchwood), even though the illness she's suffered from all her life & still suffering, Cystinosis, is incurable.
Extremely, but I never talk about it(!) I still maintain she gets all her brains from me and everyone I know agrees with me. Well, when I say everyone, I actually mean no one.
8 years! as everyone else has said I can't believe it's so long he was a truly inspirational guy and I definitely miss his pragmatic postings RIP Steve sadly missed
