file:///media/keith/5AFE-5B77/DCIM/144_FUJI/DSCF4956.JPG It will be 10 years in September since Steve's untimely death. I keep in touch with his widow Deirdre and she comes along to a home fixture every season with their son to remember Steve at a venueand he frequented from the early sixties. Shortly after his funeral Deirdre gave me a shirt which the club had given to Steve whilsthe was fighting cancer. I have kept it in a drawer for all this time meaning to do something with it. Finally, I have beaten inertia and got it framed and gave it to my son Junior Didcot Red 3 for his birthday last month. If my laptop skills are up to it there is a picture attached of the said son and shirt. It is from 2003/4 not the most illustrious period in our history. There is one autograph of note on it. That of Ronnie Glavin, who was first team coach at the time. The other signatures include such unforgetable stars as Kevin Betsy, Kevin Dixon, Paul Gibbs, Steve Heywood, Sasha Illic etc. I think that Dean Gorre freatures as well. I had to look most of them up from the squad list of that season.
well t hat showed up my limited computer skills. I will seek technical support before I try that one again.
I had the same feeling as you mate. Can't believe its 10 years. And I second your views, that Steve was a thoroughly good guy and is a legend in my eyes on this page.
Agree with all, 10 years, where has it gone, Steve was a real inspiration, he never complained or moaned about things and he had a lot of **** thrown at him, I remember talking to him once and it transpired that, before I met him, we had both been at a Ralph McTell concert at Burnley mechanics...small world
