    Cracking player.............like him a lot.

    However, must go down as an England failure along with every other player who has appeared for the 3 lions since '66.

    Who for? Who are his rivals for the holding role? Carrick? Barry? Huddlestone? Cork? Come off it, can't see him losing a second of sleep over any of them

    I don't think so. Roy was urging him to stay on.

    He's been a decent servant to England but is obviously way past it now, as his summer performances show. Right decision. Might give him an extra season or so at club level too.

    Thats my take as well - shame he never really produced his best form for England but in his prime he never really played that role.
