Can't complain at the red card shame though he had a decent game up till then

    Agreed.

How annoying was Townsend though, going on and on about the Welbeck "trip", my first thought was that he dived.
Also thought the ref was right to disallow Defoe's, yes you see those let go but his elbow went in the guy's face....no complants.

he's been getting away with two footed challenges for years. a dirty player who for some reason can do what he likes. if joey barton made challenges like gerrard does, he'd never be off the suspension list

The difference with Barton is he looks like an angry dog after he's made these tackles, Gerrard generally offers his hand to the player straight away - I think referees take into account what happens in the seconds after a challenge as much as the challenge itself when they are deciding whether to get cards out

To be fair it was hardly a dirty tackle. Mistimed and maybe a little from behind but how you lot are carrying on it was as if he had shot himself from a cannon

    Agreed

Definitely a foul, but tackles like that aren't always given bookings.

Having said that I thought his elbow for the first booking was a bit nasty. He probably didn't mean it like, but he caught their player quite hard.

He could also show Tom Daley a thing or two in diving.

if they are gonna play lampard & gerrard regularly together need someone who is gonna bust a gut to cover them I thought Milner did a great job & put a few good crosses in too
