Left Plymouth for Stoke, Stoke a bigger club for sure but it's proved a bit of a hiding to nothing since their relegation from the Prem.
Of the 3 promoted clubs from L1 only Mckenna at Ipswich is left in the Job.

Three and a half years, and must surely have trebled/quadrupled his salary? What's not to like?

Same as what happened to us when we were in the championship, players with 6 months left jumping ship to quadruple there wages. Nothing clubs can really do about just the football food chain.

    Strange appointment from Stoke's perspective.

Strange club Stoke. Throw daft money at it every year but never actually improve. Don’t blame anyone for taking one of their massive contracts but could certainly hit your career longer term. Alex Neil and Nathan Jones spring to mind for instance.

I was thinking this. I do wonder if another championship club would touch him. His championship record is extremely poor if you assess it statistically.

he might have to rebuild in league one. Perhaps Northern Ireland manager when it arises.

Was thinking more like Warnock, lives in Plymouth previously managed them ideal finale for both parties Plymouth gaurantee survival.

I think Plymouth have a lot of potential. Other than the obvious money on the table, I'm a bit surprised in footballing terms he's made the move. There is a whiff of decay about Stoke. I suspect Duff will have to drop down to our division to get a job.

No such thing as guaranteed anything mate. Perfect job for Warnock though.

When was the last time Warnock was relegated from the 2nd tier? Its pretty much a given as close a gaurantee in life there can ever be.
See Rotherham and Huddersfield in absolute dire straights before his arrival, Plymouth nowhere near that mess so it's pretty much a dead cert.

I wouldn't want to travel the length and breadth of the M5 if you tripled my wages right now.

Yes it’s awful around Avonmouth/Bristol but I’m sure Michael wouldn’t worry about that a couple of times a week. Not that he’s likely to get the job of course…

Coates family who own b365 own them, so we're all paying for Stoke. Denise, the boss of b365 paid herself quarter of a billion last year, so money is no object, but they don't seem to go totally nuts on fees, bit like when Chien had us.
