Really need him back now on loan, get on that phone to Everton and beg them!!!

I'd be tempted to give TK a go at LWB as well!!

Wasn't in the squad again yesterday. Would be a bit of a travesty, seeing him only train with Everton for the rest of the season

No one has benefited from the Stones transfer.

Stones was playing every week for his home town club, living the dream. Now he's stuck in the reserves.

Barnsley had a cracking right wing-back. Now we've got a gaping hole down the right side. We got some money, but the transfer happened so late in the window that we couldn't spend it.

Everton are a couple of million or so down, but they haven't improved their team because they're not playing him.

Selling Stones in January served no purpose. It hasn't done anyone any favours. Football is stupid some times. I can't see any reason why we couldn't have agreed a deal in principle with Everton, but told them he was staying here until the summer. We would have kept our right wing-back, Stones would have continued to play first team football and Everton would have had a great new signing for the start of the new season.

I was hung out to dry for saying such things at the time, because it was good business.

    Ignorance is best.

Seems like the £ signs made us jizz our pants again.

If we got £3 million for him, then that's a fair price. But we didn't need to sell him now, he was under a long contract and he would have still been worth £3 million in the summer. Maybe more. I know John fancied the move, who can blame him, but I'm sure he could have been convinced to stay until the summer to help us out with our relegation battle before getting a dream move. He doesn't strike me as the type of lad who would get the monk on.

I've heard the argument put forward that John could have been injured if stayed here and lost out on his chance. I don't buy that. If we all felt that way we'd never leave the house for fear of getting run over. We don't do everything this minute for fear of getting hurt in the future.

As it stands a young lad who loves playing football isn't playing football any more, while a big chunk of money has moved from one business to another, but because of the rules of that industry the money can't be spent. Nobody wins.

He'll probably be out on loan next season at a Bolton or a Leicester, which would be a crying shame. I didn't see why we couldn't have done a Zaha type deal, keeping him until the summer. But a good few fans did seem happy enough to get the £3m at the time so hindsight is a wonderful thing. Just think the club struggle to the bigger picture and aren't ambitious enough with their negotiations. The Stones transfer was the first time in ages we could really be bullish about negotiations (he supported us, had a long term deal etc). We did OK with the money side but could have been more savvy.

It's like my brain has been cut and pasted. You will find practically a word for word post from a month ago if you can be arsed. I feel yours will meet with more agreement.

I think people are over reacting to a couple of defeats that were both in different ways avoidable, whilst I appreciate John Stones as a great up and coming young player..and has contributed well in the time he has been in the first team,he's not the saviour..just a part of a squad that over the last couple of months with or without him has been pulling out some good results, its a good squad now,and I'm sure Flicker will be looking at all the options, just keep the faith.

Golbourne is the bigger loss IMO. He has been superb at LWB, he is the reason the formation ticked. Stones could gave been replaced from within. Golbourne can't, and it will take a seriously good loan to come close. This formation doesn't work so well without rampaging wing backs.
