League One side Stockport County have been placed in administration.

In accordance with Football League rules, County are given a 10-point penalty and fall from 13th to 18th in league football's third tier.

So based on the Southampton precedent..

they should start next season on minus 10 as the deduction will have no effect on whether they stay up or not this time round.

Don't think so. Goal difference should keep them up.

Just seen. With according to reports, their largest debt being.......... 300,000 quid. Or to put it into perspective, around two and a half weeks of Robhino's wages. Absolutely ridiculous.

I bet Southampton fans are furious

Stockport get the 10 point deduction this season which just moves them down the table.
So both Southampton and Stockport have the same "crime" at approx the same time of the season, both deducted 10 points, yet next season they'll both be in the same division but only one of them starts with a points deduction.

Why not just say that 10 point deductions applies to the next 10 points that the club wins.
I emailed this proposal to the league after the Leeds debacle but never got a response.

Tis a shame that most people of Stockport will probably support Manure, why don they not support there local club??

I am fairly sure that they will start next season on -10

Unless the applying a 10 point deduction this season takes them down.

    Not according to the BBC

Says it will be this season - no doubt the FL will say they are applying the same rule that they did to Southampton....i.e. if they avoided relegation it would be this season.
