Trying to move on from yesterday's result & controversy, as nothing anyone does will change the 3-3 result, who remembers going to Stoke in the FA cup, 4th round I think, when we took bus load upon bus load? Mid 80's I think.

I remember the plod who met us at the ground asking if anyone was still in Barnsley.

Got to the ground after a long detour (police enforced) with only 5 mins to go till K.O. Then for some reason they closed all but 2 turnstiles, absolute chaos ensued.

The long wait outside the ground was made all the more frustrating by the roars of the BFC fans as we went into a 3-1 lead.

Only got into the ground when they opened the exit gates about 10 mins before half-time and let us all flood in. How there wasn't a pre-Hillsbrough situation I'll never know.

The second half saw a Stoke come back & the game finished 3-3. Replay at Oakwell.

Again a bumper crowd, great atmoshphere from both sets of supporters. Steve Cooper (with sommersaults) scored in a win for the Reds.

Just why these matches caught the imagination of both sets of supporters I'll never know but they sure were two great games.

Does anyone else remeber these games. I've been searching the net for the result from Oakwell but can't find it. I think it was 3-2?

We also have to thank Stoke for their contribution to our record Oakwell attendance, not that i went to that game.

Stick yer panthers up yer arse!

    all those pink panthers eh!

I remember that game well. Absolute belter.

The replay at oakwell was chaos as well. I seem to remember the away gates running out of change so they just let a load in for 50p or summat.

Anyone remember a certain Mike Sherons' 30 yard grass cutter on boxing day circa 96

Best goal I ever saw him score.

    Shame it was for them!

Thanks for that, couldn't quite remember.

Did Peter Beagrie score the Stoke goal & copy Cooperman's somersault?

Joe Joyce is still running around in circles after that last 20 mins.

RE: Stick yer panthers up yer arse!

How about the Oldham away game (Gunner Halle penalty) - outside for ages trying to get in, kick off delayed 15 mins.
My mate, who didn't go, phoned me after saying how come it was delayed when the attendance wasn't that big (about 9,000) - I pointed out that about 6,000 of that was Barnsley fans trying to get through 4 turnstyles into 1 end!

No , it was the other way round

Beagrie equalised in the 3-3 draw at Victoria Park and did his backflip in celebration. When Cooper scored the winner in the 2-1 replay victory at Oakwell, he showed he could somersault far higher and better than Beagrie ever could!
    Not that I'm biased !!

Dont forget the same amount of people waiting to go into the ground the week before. Match cancelled because of fog 10 mins before kick off.

I'd just got off motorway and police at top of slip road informing us it was off - 2 nights off work I had to take cause of that!

Ah well, as you said it was a long time ago.

Didn't Cooperman train as a gymnast when he was a kid, hence why he could do the awesome flips?

He used to train wearing a heavily weighted belt

And was still able to beat the likes of Futcher, McGugan, Shotton, Tiler, Smith & Taggart in the air during training.
