    I'd say Roy was just looking at options. Having a centre half who can also play at full back doesn't harm his chances.

    Good point.

    23 man squad so ideally he'll want to only take 7 defenders with one who can play RB & CB. Boosts his chances

    Hopefully the former but as you said in another post his chances would be boosted further by a move to a top club.

    Centre back pairing at the WC is nailed on to be Smalling and Stones. It's up for grabs at the Euros but I can see one of Jagielka and Cahill playing just so there's some experience at centre half.
