Heard on good authority yesterday we've 20% sell on clause and a flat one off payment aswell when/if he gets a full international appearance. If this is true we could well be swelling the bank balance very soon. Fingers crossed for Stonesy and us! Source, someone I know very well who works with/for a major club sponsor.
I'd double that at least?!? Don't think Everton would even consider letting him go for owt less. He's getting rave reviews from everywhere and is just getting better and better.
I hope that is true CS. Big Ben hinted at something in his last interview, but my confidence in the negotiation skills of the last administration is close to rock bottom.
To be honest, he'd be silly to move to a bigger club now so I wouldn't worry too much about what we'll get just yet. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
I tend to agree tbh. I don't even think most Barnsley fans expected him to improve as quickly as he has. Looking like he'll be in the World Cup squad. Amazing. Proud of the lad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Phil Jones transferred to Man Utd when he was 19 (same age as Stones is now) for £16.5 million. With Vidic moving on at end of season and also Ferdinand in the twilight of his career, Moyes may go for Stones......he knows him, he signed him for Everton. If a big money move is available, then you simply have to take it......whatever stage of your career.
also I have heard it Mentioned that Stones wants to go to Utd eventually. So if we have a 20% sell on clause that's a cool £3 million, if he goes for £15 million. Would the international bit stick though if he went before getting a full England cap? Hopefully 'WOY' might give him a go in a Friendly game.
If they sell Barkley & Stones at the same time to the same club for let's say £60 million what's to stop them saying they sold Barkley for £57 million and stones for £3 million if both clubs agree to put that on the paperwork we'd not have a leg to stand on and not get another penny
What is good for Barnsley FC may not be best for Stones! I would think that he should spend at least one more season at Goodison to develop his game further and only then start looking at a top-club move. You just fear that a move now might see his progress regress on the bench, or bit-part appearances in minor cup competitions. On the other hand, we all thought that when he went to Everton, so who knows. It is great to see one of our academy lads making it in the big-time and must encourage both the other academy lads and the club. BTW - if we had been in League One rather than the Championship, would we have got such a good deal for him?
Or it could be like Oldham Athletic with Micah Richards. Rumoured 25% sell on clause and their fans have been waiting for him to be sold for years because rumours are always around due to the amount of players Man City buy. Yet in the end they probably won't see any cash because he will probably leave for nothing at the end of his contract.
Who could we trust spending money at oakwell? The last wad has been frittered away Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
