I completely stopped smoking on Sunday

Decided to go completely cold turkey and not go onto vape or patches etc

Smoked 20-30 a day for the last 18 years and I can honestly say I’ve never felt so good .

Difference in my breathing just since Sunday is fantastic and wake up so more refreshed .

Just hope I can keep this up

Also saving me and wife £400 a month

I gave up in 1992 did not use patches or gum. I was in the Falkland Islands at the time so no stress eh ?
I am glad too , especially when you see the cost of cig's these days.

Put the money you spend on cigs away and reward yourselves every now and then on things you would never normally dream of buying .

If I can give you any advice. Do not under any circumstances. Think a one off will not matter.

Xmas thought go on, accept one from a mate. Went back smoking more than when I finished (happened twice after 6/8 months tobacco free,). On the last occasion although still having the urge on occasion to have one. (the urge never goes away. Just get past it, it only lasts a short while) I managed to give up entirely 20+ yrs ago. Just stick with it.
No gimmicks worked at all for me. Acupuncture. Patches you name it. Only cold turkey. If you get past a fortnight I reckon you've cracked it. It's sticking with it from then on. Only thing you might have to watch is your appetite. You'll tend to eat more. And may gain weight.

I quit 22nd June 2021 so just over a year for me. Cold turkey too. I have a friend who smoked on and off. He chose to vape and he clings to it for dear life, it's become an addiction in itself.

You've done brilliantly quitting after so long, so well done mate. I can only echo what Hooky says, the cravings do subside but i don't think they ever fully go away, and there's no such thing as the odd ciggie. If a 'friend' offers you knowing you've quit, question your friendship with that person and don't think about accepting. And my only other advice would be to try and replace it with something positive, to fill the time but also to feel the benefits in your body. Some physical activity is a good idea. Could be a walk, could be running. For me i stopped and immediately started swimming. I got the double benefit of my lungs naturally clearing, and the additional help that swimming brings. Good luck with it and keep it up, it's worth it.

I quit about 6 years ago now.
Every time I would have bought a pack of fags., I put a tenner to one side.
This was 18 months worth & went towards a new to us motorhome.

    Keep it up.
I went completely cold turkey, so it is possible.

Keep going, think it's the best thing to go cold turkey if you can. I forget the statistics but youtr body starts repairing itself very quickly once you stop.

Brilliant stuff mate, you keep going. Delighted you're already noticing a difference with your health and bank balance :) When you can start affording a bit more than normal from the savings you'll be happier still :)

Well done mate, you will get the urge to have one, something will trigger it,could be anything, fight it, it will subside after a while, but believe me even after 31 years I still get a little feeling for a drag but it goes away as soon it comes. I'm now 73 and can walk a fair distance with the dog even afer open heart surgery, Keep at it, it's more than worth it.

I agree people converting from smoking to those doesnt seem a good idea at all.

Known a couple of guys who stopped for a good while (several years one of em) they both succumbed to a "one off" social cig and were hooked again. Like others have posted, resist at all costs. Good luck.
