should have got rid the first time he had a "bad back"..........

it always cleared up just before his international jaunts-one of Wilson's worst buys-second touch was always a tackle-and turning circle of an estuary dredger-haven't got a good word to say about him apart from cheerio

Putting aside his ability as a player, hats off to Mr Tinkler for at least showing some dignity over a situation he can't have been overly happy about at the time.

Good player at the start but ...

I thought that he became a bit of a loafer around the place. He didn't seem bothered about whether he played or not and we must have been paying him a small fortune not to play. I doubt that this is the full story, but Tinkler's version of it. I think the club found an excuse to terminate his very expensive contract - with some justification in the end.

Big Eric never scored the goal I dreamed he would. I could see him letting fly from 40-50 yards, breaking the keeper's hand and the net. It never happened. Shame

I was referring to The Messiah Dave Bassett not Tinkler

I would have said the opposite. He was poor to start with (1997/98) but matured into an important member of Bassett's play off team in 1999/00. Would be fair to say his form slumped after that though.
