I was talking to a bloke in town last night who said he had been to Oakwell for a refund on his season ticket. He reckoned he had been conned into buying it with the promise of immediate signings which the club hadn't done.He also said he knows of others who've done the same. Now is it just me or do others find that utterly pathetic.

I spoke to a fan who'd done the same thing last week and he reckons he's taking legal advice now as the club refused him his refund.

To be fair, the club did make out that getting your money earlier would enable them to recruit quicker/better, not having to scramble around late for players nobody else wants etc. If some folk believed that and are now upset that it's not turned out as promised, then they've not followed BFC for very long. We've been led up a garden path for years. If the club tell me it's raining, I wear shorts and a t shirt.

I don't see the problem to be fair, the longer you waited to buy your season ticket, the more expensive it became?

They'll not have a leg to stand on IMHO. The club didn't give any specifics regards times, dates etc. A clever marketing ploy that worked and folk went with. To be fair, most of the 6 thousand would have renewed anyway, be it early or otherwise.

    I blame Don.

While I disagree with the idea of taking money back from the club, the club isn't a charity (albeit it is run like a charity) and if they make statements to fans and they fail to uphold expectations, the commercial consequences are that customers will feel let down and they will want their money back.

The club has to work harder to make sure that customers are fans. At the moment a lot of customers are cheesed of with empty promises. With a background of difficult financial times nobody has money to throw at a club they love, but they have no expectation or belief in.

While I know that there are arguments around the new scoreboard, it's just an example of the club blowing hot and cold. As Whitey says, if the club says it's raining you expect the sun to be out and vice versa.

We're either a lower league charity, or we're a forward thinking commercial operation. Trouble is BFC never learn and they never change.

Good luck to him. I hope he gets his money back if that's what he wants.

I must have misread Mansfords comments.I thought that by buying your season ticket early the club would know how much they could budget for new signings.I never once thought we would have bought several players in the first week of the close season.

I told him he doesn't stand a chance and not to waste his time.

    Here's what he said:

“One of our problems is that we have always waited for the result of our season before we have issued our season ticket renewals – we have rarely known what division we will be in and what funds we will have available until late.
“As a consequence we have been late with our recruiting – sometimes as much as a month behind other clubs. Our recruitment has therefore left us with less choice and competitiveness in the player market.
“Although the timing may appear bad, we have decided to issue the season ticket renewals now, priced with a discount structure for early payment. If you support this initiative – and we sincerely hope you will – we will have some financial substance to recruit early, whatever division we are in.

He probably won't get anywhere but at least he's giving it a go.

The club's promises constantly ring hollow. If someone points this out to them once in a while then it's a good thing.

I understand his frustration but there isn't a contractual stipulation by the club that they would have signed 'x' amount of players by the end of June. They're not in breach of contract so there isn't a case IMO. I just think the club have better things to do than respond to fans threatening legal action just because they're not happy with transfer proceedings so far.

If we make the right signings does it really matter what day in pre season we sign them? Let's just let the management get on with there jobs

The early bird offer captured a lot of renewers before we knew for certain what league we would be playing in. I suspect that with the fixtures out this week, it has hit home to a small minority of people the level the club has sunk to, and they're now pondering the wisdom of diving in. To the majority, their undying love for the club will mean that the relegation has no bearing on the issue, and God bless 'em!

Renewal of a a ST is a contractual transaction. You pay £xxx and you get to watch all home games. These people will struggle long and hard to find any clause in the conditions of sale which state "and we will sign Wayne Rooney with the money we get in early." If people are seriouisly contemplating taking legal advice they should be aware 1) that will cost them more than their renewal and 2) Ben is a solicitor!

The club have been talking b*llocks for years via Gordon, Don and now Ben. Score board, solar panels on roofs to generate income, rebuilding of West Stand - all officially announced and then never mentioned again.

Ha ha ha ha brilliant stuff, so the club hold back releasing the the new strip until all the staff have been on holiday, so they can have all hands on deck ready for the mass returns after the first week of sales, when they start pulling left right and centre and bits start to fall off after one wash, and people start returning season tickets instead lol priceless
