    is that for a 'close' table so few teams have a positive gd over the season

    A quick check of the tables show

    Premier - 8 out of 20 teams with a positive GD
    Championship - 8 out of 24
    League 1 - 10 out of 24 (and 1 with 0)
    League 2 - 11 out of 24

    So nothing out of the ordinary in our division, what I did notice though was that the top 7 were all in double figures but then after that the highest was +2.

    it may be because the top few 6/8? teams are far better and thump the others? or not
