I think we were down to the bare bones last night-Burns hadn't trained and had a heavy cold,as did Devaney and both probably should have been rested Carbon limps off but Reid is obviously not fit enough-so why on the bench Wroe and Williams can do a job FROM THE BENCH but are not obviously challenging for a start as I said after the Donny game when a pikey came on here and said we were beaten by their reserves when you compare our squad + reserves there isn't much comparison-there are no reserve team players challenging for a start and won't be all season We are stuck with what we've got and I worry injuries/illness/suspensions will derail our promising start-DISCUSS
Since our last league defeat for one reason or another in various games we've been without a combo of : Colgan Reid Carbon Kay Austin Burns Howard McP Nardy I take your point, but think we've coped as best we could expect. It depends on the number of injuries/suspensions/new born children.
I guess if you look at it. Goalkeepers who can start: Colgan Flinders Most teams would die for a goalkeeping combination like those two. No problem there. Defenders who are good enough to start: Centre: Carbon, Reid, Kay, Hassell Right: Hassell, Austin, Tonge Left: Austin. MAYBE Williams if necessary. Thats 6 or 7. Probably a little short. Midfield Centre: Burns, McPhail, Howard, Kell, Tonge Right: Shuker/Devaney Left: Shuker/Devaney/Howard 7 midfielders. Pretty strong. Strikers Nardiello, Hayes, Richards This is where we're mainly light. Richards isnt convincing, Nardiellos so talented but so lazy, Hayes splits opinions. Jarmans looked very mediocre when hes played. You cant going to get many illnesses during a season like the ones we had this week. Carbon and Reid are never going to be consistently and regularly fit. In midfield I think we're generally fine, Kell is on his way back as is McPhail. Upfront is a major worry. BUT its the most strength in depth we've had since we came down to this division, and I don't think it'll derail us.
