Embarrassing from the club since selling Moore we’ve had well over a year to find someone who’s going to make an impact. Freiser/Chaplin/Schmidt.... all look anonymous and have little impact on a game at champ level

Think a fit Woodrow up with Frieser would have made a huge difference. Chaplin ran around a lot but got outmuscled and outnumbered more often than not

Correct, and depending how long Woodrow is out it could be extremely worrying. It's as tho expectations have been lowered so much on the transfer front that we are expected to be thankful for the signings of James and kane!

It won't be enough, we haven't looked like scoring again.

I hate to criticise, but Chaplin just doesn't look good enough at this level. Or perhaps he'd do better playing off a big target man (which I know will never happen).

No strikers are going to score though if the quality of the final balls and lack of creativity continues, we’re missing that as much as anything else.

I know I shouldn’t but I can’t help compare Thomas and Chaplin to 2 other similar in stature players we had, in bullock and Marcelle, they caused no end of problems to opposing teams and created chances for others.

weve paid decent money for both supposedly so they should be doing better.

That's not even code for saying he's not (sadly) good enough.

Anyway, we are toothless up front. I may have said this before.

Are you not thankful for the signings of James and Kane? They've massively improved our midfield options

Granted it doesn't fix problems elsewhere but I'm very pleased with both coming in

And Brittain looks a great acquisition

Yes I'm happy with the signings, still severely lacking up front and on the creativity front tho. The central midfield area is certainly stronger, but out wide/wingback we have very limited quality options.

Except for Brittain and Oduour who both played really well, again

Yes but my point is the same as earlier, severely lacking options in those areas. I don't dispute both are good players. Who do we bring on to change things?

I thought odour played well but tired last fifteen minutes .
He lost ball a few times in good positions and seemed easily knocked off the ball and a few wayward passes .
Would have been a candidate for a sub normally imo but it looked as though we could have done with a few subs today through injury and tiredness .
Fair play they battled on but ball retention needs addressing hopefully it’ll come with confidence if we can start getting a few wins .
Thomas’s ball back into our area after we’d cleared was calamitous imo.

Schmidt is anonymous because he never gets on the pitch , I cannot believe the treatment he gets , yet we persevere with Chaplin & Thomas

Clark needs to get a bit of meyt on him and to stop passing when a shooting opportunity is available to him.

Yes a little harsh on Schmidt who hasn’t had a run of consecutive 90 minutes. The fact remain s when he is in the field he’s not the type of striker we need in the championship. We need someone who is quick, strong can hold the ball up and good in the air this type of striker alongside Woodrow would make us look like a different side. If you went round every centre half in the league and asked them the opinion on all our strikers they’d all agree Woodrow is the only real threat.

My opinion We shouldn’t of been spending the 1.25million on a midfielder but instead on a striker as this was a key position we lacked last season. Stats don’t lie - 7% shot conversion last year and we don’t prioritise the money on trying to strengthen us in this department. Wasnt long ago we were resulting to sticking a centre half on up front! It’s been clear for all to see for a long time now. Ludicrous the club is now scouring the free transfer market for a candidate. Laughable.

Would’ve started Schmidt up front, especially given the forwards weren’t doing as much pressing as under Struber. Chaplin could’ve played as the 10
