If Ritchie is committed to playing 4-4-2 with wingers then we'll need a target man in the middle who can knock in the crosses, or set up chances. I would give a serious look at either Neil Shipperley, or Geoff Horsfield, but I would still keep Billy Sharp in the picture. Peter Thorne seems to score whenever he plays. He has had a fitness problem most of last season, but always seems likely to score.
The three you have mentioned wouldn't do Barnsley fc any good whats so ever. All this talk about Billy Sharpe being the great answer to Barnsley fc's forward line is crap. Sharpe couldn't hack it in the Championship under Neil Wornock, that's why he let him go to Scnuthorpe. At Scnuthorpe he has done well, but when he played against us last season , he was crap, Reid and Kay sniffed him out and he looked ordinary. Has for the other two , passed their sell by date. We have a potential striker in Nardiello, he is young, gifted, and he and Richards, plus Hayes can light this league up. Give them your backing and they will deliver the goods, beleive me.
Agree about Nads, Hayes & Richards - they all deserve a chance ... But... How can you comment on Billy Sharp at Sheff Utd? He was a kid there.... he never got a chance because Warnock signs strikers as a hobby. Sharp did well at Scunny in his first year. I'd rather judge him on his return for the season (which was good), than the fact he may have not played at his best whn he came to Oakwell. Maybe you have been scouting him for a while, but given that a few clubs are after him, and his goals last year, I think he could be a good shout.
I have watched Sharpe a few times last season and the season before when he was at Sheff united. He as scored a lot of goals for Scnuthorpe, but he his no great shakes. Put Nardiello or Richards and Hayes in the same situation as Sharpe and all three would have scored as many goals has he, beleive me
Fair enough.... I have nothing against our own strikers. I'd like to see Nads & Richards up front. Reckon Richards could come on alot (people think he's oldr than he is), and evryone knows what Nardiello is capable of if he knuckles down. We still need to strengthen though. PS. My mate who supports Blades still thinks Sharp is a good prospect.
I disregard your opinion completely if you want Nads & Richards ahead of Hayes! I don't want Sharp, I really do think that he's been lucky to get the goals he got this season, and that against good defences in the Championship, he'd suffer.
I don't put any of our Strikers in order of merit, i just think they, the three of them will suprise many fans this coming season. I also think that we need a quality striker, Sharpe is not the answer in my humble opinnion.
Ok, I probably agree with your opinions on Sharp, Hayes and Nads. But Richards will NOT hack it in this league. Im quite sure of that. He couldnt manage it in League One, apart from a golden streak that lasted a few weeks. Most of the season proved he isn't good enough. In League One there are some real donkeys in defence. The Championship is quite different. I dont want to put a downer on any player for us, but Richards simply wont hack it in the Championship.

we don't need prospects though mate,we have enough of them already.
We need someone to hold the front line, we needs an experienced forward now imo.

Rick Holden... seems convinced that Richards will be a star with a full pre-season behind him. Only time will tell.
RE: Rick Holden... And who are we to argue against a man who was instrumental at one of the greatest events in the history of this great club. If Rick rates Richards and Tonge then who are we to argue. Having said that, Rick rates richards, tongue twister, similar to ken dodds dads dogs dead, could be a record thread these tongue twisters.
