Correct. I thought they were the worst 2 players... ... for England last night. Downing look **** scared every time he got the ball and his crossing was awful. Maybe the crowd and their aggression got to him cos he is only a young lad. As for Cole, he's been ***** since he joined Chelsea, I'd play Gareth Barry or Wayne Bridge there ..... or anybody from the Barnsley Sunday League if it's against that standard of opposition!
why this fascination everybody has of playing Barry at left back he hasn't played club football there for years
Left footed and can get up and down the pitch .... ..... can tackle and score goals, thats good enough for me mate!
not bothered about positional sense and experience of the position then Do you think Brian Howard should play there for Barnsley or Grant Mcann beacuse they have occasionally and can tackle, are left footed and get up and down the pitch
McCann would be ok ........ not Howard, he couldn't tackle a sunday dinner ........ but don't forget Barry was a full back through the youth and reserves teams and also when he got into the Villa first team and was then converted into a midfield player ..... so it's a daft comparison really
At left back? Are you having a laugh?
He can barely keep up in midfield , how would he do against any winger who can run?

Probably slightly better than ........ ........ Heckingbottom, Eckersley and Robbie Williams. Next question? PS. It's much harder playing central midfield than full back mate, ask anybody who's played football at any level
RE: Probably slightly better than ........ If it is so easy to play full back then how come all ours are ****.
Why havent we just stuck a central midfielder in there, oh we tried that with Tonge and he wasnt that good as he couldnt run either.
Thanks for the patronisation. Keep 'em coming.

All ours are **** cos we haven't signed ........ ...... anybody who is any good and the academy/reserves are obviously not ready for the step up, it's nowt to do with how 'hard' it is to play that position. Like I said earlier, it's as easy as it gets playing full back, much harder to play at Centre Half, in midfield and up front
In your opinion, not in mine ............ ...... I'll give you an example then, could Steven Gerrard play right back for England? Course he could. Could Gary Neville play Central Midfield for England and be effective (and score goals), I doubt it
Course Gerrard could play right back ........ ........ take your point about Hignett but he's too old and plays for Hartlepool!
No. Of course he couldn't there is a reason gary neville is the first name on man utd's and englands team sheet for the last 10 years Its because he is very good at a specialist skill Using your analogy what would you prefer, Terry at right back or neville at centre back
Ok, I take your point .............. ....... I've lost track of how this started now! I just think, in very general terms, full backs tend to be 'one trick ponies' who can do a job in that position (and Gary Neville is by far the best right back in the country and has been for years - even though I can't stand the bloke) but can rarely be moved into other positions, whereas midfielders have usually a bit more about them and can play in a variety of positions/roles. I also think it's far more difficult to score goals than it is to stop others scoring goals ..... but I'm losing the will to live with this now ....... so al shut my gob!
