whilst he played in a reds team of... ...limited quality / success etc etc. i will always rate him as one of the best players i've seen in a reds shirt.
I think he was top scorer one season, playing mostly at the back Excellent player, wish we had a few like him now.
He was one of our three "G Men" at the time Gray, David Geddis, Ronnie Glavin Three superb individuals in an under achieving team. Think Billy Ronson was around at that time as well - I forget the rest. Ronnie would have been in his second spell with us by then, obviously not as good as his first time around but still a heck of a player
It was at the end Glavin's first spell (1983/84 season) But you're right. Imagine what those three could add to our present team.
RE: It was at the end Glavin's first spell (1983/84 season) Probably a few extra pounds in weight, and a few grey hairs.
He's been an abject disaster as a manager.... they despise him with a passion that Davey never experienced, down here. Got them relegated last year and looking like they were heading for non league this year, apparently. Just sacking him, is like getting promoted to most Cobblers fans. Another example of the best players not making top managers.
Aye, and poor players good managers. Which is why we should have given the managers job to Kay Odejayi!
