Were you wearing Studs or Blades when you injured your Knee or Ankle? I'm asking this as an FA Coach to to see if there is a connection between Knee and Ankle injuries and the type of foot wear you were wearing when you were injured. I known that FIFA are looking at it and the FA Medical Department constantly monitor the type of injury Pros pick up. There are a lot of guys with damaged knees on this board! (casualty)
I wore blades for the whole of last season and had nothing but problems, no serious injuries but loads of niggly injuries. Dropped the studs this season and no problems
blades are worst ,cos they cut down the amount of give when running/playing so there is more stress on the joints, got that little pearl of wisdom off a Chartered physio involved with the game
You are bang on about modern boots being crap. They are made for bowling greens not the pitches the local league player has to put up with. And £110 a pair?
Studs, first season of predominantly blades this season and when i go out on a muddy pitch i slip all over and either **** mi legs up or the defence S) and when i go out on the dry they dont dig into the ground like studs , you feel like your on concrete. Dont like em one bit i reverted back to my 1 year old Total 90 studded pair but ive wasted mi money on the blades . Only problem is im still growing and the studs dont fit aswell as the blades so whichever i play in its hard and if i buy a new pair i'll be spending even mre money than i want because ive only 10 matches left and then i'll have grown again before next season (doh)
Always wore moulded and never got injured.
Did my achillies, but I was wearing astro boots at the time, and I think it was because the coach was pushing us too hard. ..........

i'll stick up for blades i know they have a lot of bad press but they must just be perfect for me. they give brilliant grip i think and i love the feel of them...i fall over all the time in studs... also studs always fall out and in reebok boots especially the big toe stud comes through! i only wear adidas blades now and have done for the past 5 seasons...i think they are good but i think adidas boots are miles ahead of the rest anyway... by the way, i play as a tough tackling centre half or defensive midfielder and i haven't ever had an injury related to boots...just a fractured elbow when playing for county...ouch!
I play the same position, but still cant get along with em i also havent had injuries with em apart from being kicked in the mouth and knocked a tooth out whilst taking someone down, and to put the icing on the cake i was sent off for a dangerous tackle from behind, with two feet, stuck in the air S) ahhhh well
local pitches dont change - some good some poor - with me older boots and these new plastic coated crappy balls - you can do a lot more with the ball than with the older mitre balls.
school point of view We have just banned pupils from wearing blades (the adidas metal types not the moulded ones) during PE lessons. A tackle before xmas resulted in one lad having five or six puncture wounds to the leg, was really nasty. I also understand that sheffield sunday league have banned them too.
