When there is an accident on a motorway closing the carriageway completely why do they make cars sit stationary for 4, 5, 6 hours and sometimes even longer instead of allowing vehicles to turn around (in an orderly fasion) and slowly make their way back up the motorway to the previous junction or the next available gap in the central reservation?

Two little boys and a young woman tragically lose their lives on Christmas day and that is what's on your mind?

In future would you like me to refrain from saying anything at all because obviously if I say something it means that is the ONLY thing I can possibly think about and it is entirely impossible that I can think it is awful what happened but still wonder about something that i've wondered about for years?

I fail to express my shock and condolences and dare to make a post not referencing their deaths and I am a moron as you clearly are implying. You fail to express your shock and condolences and make posts trying to flog your wares and make some money and that is perfectly acceptable?

    Aye alreight then

I just happened to be the person who replied first. If I choose not to engage in a difficult subject that is my business, as it is your business if you choose not apply the same sensitivity.

If I respond to someone who thanks me for the print, that is my prerogative. Sorry if that upset your sensibilities, but don't try to turn your nonsense back on me.

What nonsense are you talking about? I asked a perfectly reasonable question. A question that was brought up earlier today by someone else and I didn't have an answer for it, none of us did. What exactly is your problem with me asking the question? I'm sorry if it upset your sensibilities but I live in the real world where tragedy happens and we have to deal with it, it doesn't mean that questions cannot be asked. I don't walk around blindfolded.

I've lost count of the number of dislikes or random bitchy inane comments he's replied to my posts with. Quite funny really.

I fail to see how any accident involving less than 3 cars requires any road to be closed for more than 1 or 2 hours. If damage is done to the road/barrier then that might take longer, but otherwise, its a bit of a blue light overtime fest as far as I can tell with most RTAs.

Impartial bystander here: the initial question was perfectly reasonable, and I have often wondered the same. Leaving hundreds of motorists stuck on the road for hours won't bring anyone back.

I've wondered the same thing after being stuck in traffic for hours. The police could control a road clearance quite easily without having to risk the investigation at the scene of the accident.
