https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...0622&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1654292138-1 After snubbing Nottingham Forest and Blackburn in January, he has been told by Barnsley he is free to look for a move, with Hungarians Ferencvaros already making contact.
I can believe he will be looking for a move but Id like to know what our CEO actually said and surely the Hungarian side cant afford to buy him if Styles is after a premier league club.
One of the most disappointing players from one of the worst seasons I remember. His quality was L1 at best last year. And he’s talking about wanting a PL move.
He was shocking last season. I would be gobsmacked if we got a million for him. Him under performing played a big role in our relegation.
Our CEO said the other day some players had asked to leave. He probably was thinking of Styles as one of them but that article gives the impression he told him he could leave and not Styles asking to leave.
According to Transfermarkt the club has an option for another year, taking the contract up to 2024, which should mean we can get more for him than just the one year
I agree that he had a disappointing season, but he is clearly a very talented player and one who could perform really well for us with the right manager. I do not believe we would sell him for a paltry £1 million.
I felt like he was one of the players wolf referred to when he said they were going through the motions. I also feel like hes a bit of a jack of all trades master of none. Isn't really good enough to command a place in any specific position. Even at left wing back he did at times look out of place. In fairness to him that's more likely down to our awful coaching and management than it is his ability but I don't think he's anywhere near good enough to play for a championship team in anything other than a covering squad player role, not at the moment anyway. Sadly we appear to have done the same with so many players. Move them around and hope they fit somewhere
I think a premier league move is a bit ambitious at this current stage but he definitely has potential, and teams will pay for that. He’s still only 22 but must’ve played over 150 games now surely. Even though last season wasn’t at the level of the one before (pretty sure only Collins and Morris are the only ones who can claim that), Styles wasn’t helped by being moved around all the time. CM to LWB to LW to RW. Should’ve kept him at LWB in my opinion.
The problem is with Styles nobody knows his best position yet, not even Styles himself! He’s not a midfielder, too short & lightweight to be effective in midfield. He did okay at LWB for Val, but last season he was garbage. Definitely not Premier league quality, will do well to get a club in the lower half of the Championship. Maybe Rotherham could be a good shout?
The CEO said the other days players have asked to leave. That gives the impression players came to him and asked to leave. The way at least in the case of Styles it sounds like he's gone up to him and told him he can leave and Styles probably said OK to it.
