Any ideas for a decent quality printer?

I don't print often, but when I do, I like to be able to actually print and not have a row with a shitty piece of HP junk that the magenta cartridge has run out so, despite wanting to print only in black, I can't unless I top up the colours at 15 quid a pop.

So. If anyone could recommend a decent (preferably laser because I've had most success with them in the past), colour (bonus), cheap (even better) printer that comes with enough ink to print 17 pages of A4, I'd be very happy. Failing this, please revert to as you were and jump on one of the many Hemsworth Tyke threads.

    Thanks.

Don't know if they're still available but I've had one for about 4/5 years. Couldn't say how much printing I do but I'm only on my first set of replacement toners and I'm pretty sure the originals still had a fair bit of life left in them. Has always performed faultlessly except when I tried to use it with some photo quality paper which was a bit too stiff for it. The replacement toners are generic ones (ie not Dell) and quite cheap (£13 full set) but print just as good (might not last as long though).

I paid about £80 for it off fleabay.

Had a look on eBay, there's only one but it's in the USA, £120 +£33 p&p.

Well I've got and HP Envy AirPrint. Economical and good quality. Was under £50 too.

If you want a cheaper one get a Canon.

HPs not only have crap software and frequently don't work, they also have the most expensive refills.

Yes, I don't think I'd be purchasing another HP.

We have a HP5740 with instant ink contract. Got it from PC World with a 3 year no quibble replacement guarantee. Been fine for the last year.

I managed to listen to the entirety of Blondie's greatest hits album last night whilst trying to scan and email 2 documents.

My advice is to hand write everything. It's cheaper and considerably more reliable.

    Hope this helps.
