What a travesty that England Away Internationals are only available on Setanta! How on earth did the powers that be let this happen! The popularity of the national team is at an all time low so what happens, they give exclusive rights to a two bob bit broadcaster. The others must have been that pist off with it that none of the others BBC/ITV/SKY or even FIVE bothered to bid for highlights!

So where does that leave us? The most important England game for a long time and Im sat here wondering how the hell Im going to get to see it?

Do I venture to the George & Dragon or the Walkabout and spend money I havent got?
Do I try and get a dodgy torrent link and watch it on a 14" TFT in the back bedroom?
Do I listen to it the radio pretending it's 1976?
or Do I trace my family tree and unearth some Irish ancestor and follow Trappetoni's boys?

It's a disgrace! Another own goal by the FA.....go on Soho Square, take football as far away from the common man as you can.....go on.....then in 10 years time wonder why it's on it's arse!!??

    RE: Try this:

Cheers mate! Probably better coverage than Setanta aswell!

Whats the point of them stupid desks the pundits sit behind anyway?

And am sure Mcmanaman is having a bet with Redknapp over on sky to see who can where the tightest trousers! Bring back Elton Welsby on "The Match" - 3pm Sunday afternoon - now that's when it was good :)

Could say the same about test match cricket

Absolute travesty that Sky have it and none of the terrestrial channels even tried to get it back

Every single Premiership and International game available online

Free of charge. Have that. Pass it on. Are you listening Mr Murdoch?

Sooner the plug gets pulled on the SKY TV money, the sooner football can get back to normal.

At least FIVE have highlights which are pretty decent cos Boycott & Nicholas are class presenters but saying that Sky's coverage is great and let's face it you're going to purchase Sky arent ya in preference to Setanta? Setanta hardly have any other sports to fill their schedules with have they and what they do have they look like they are produced by GCSE's students wanting to go to college to media studies?

totally off the subject, does anyone know what happened to Goldstein on Soccer AM cos that new kid is terrible!??

The reason none of the others carry highlights

Is Setanta have the whole package Highlights and all

They can allow other broadcasters to show them but set the price at the same level as ITV/Sky pay for live coverage of a champions league game. Not surprisingly all the other broadcasters told setanta where to stick the highlights

Looks like the pub tonight for me

Much as I'd like to blame the FA it's not their fault this time!

The rights to England home games are sold by the FA and will be on terrestrial. The rights to away games are sold by the host countries. Setanta outbid the others to get the rights. They have set the price for highlights at £1million. That is 5 times what anyone was prepared to pay. Sky used to show the away games but a "gentleman's agreement" was in place between them and ITV/BBC re highlights.Setanta obviously want exclusive coverage.
