    - Took on Coventry when he was the youngest manager in the football league at the age of 32. They were in a relegation battle and steered them to mid table, kept them up with a 16th place finish. Following season he was sacked whilst they were sitting in mid table.

    - Still one of the youngest managers in the game when he joined Sunderland over a year later, ensures survival in his first season at Championship level. Sacked the following season when Sunderland were in a relegation battle.

    - In April 2002 he managed Motherwell, had to make 19 players redundant due to financial difficulties. Younger players had to make up the numbers, club was put up for sale. Finished bottom but stayed in the league due to Falkirks stadium, they were top of league 1. Using the younger players including James McFadden the club came out of administration and Butcher took them to the League Cup final in 04/05 season. Motherwell also began to make money from the sales of their younger stars.

    - Took on the Sydney job 2005/06. A short 9 month stint saw him win 9 out of 23 games, drawing 8 and losing 6.

    - March 2007 returned to England to take up the Brentford post. Took charge for the final 2 games off the season when Brentford were already relegated and on the back of 5 straight defeats. The following season he was sacked less than 5 months into the new season, winning 5 of his 23 games in charge.

    - January 2009 appointed ICT manager, ICT had just lost 8 games on the trot when he took over and were rooted to the foot of the league. He took charge for the final 15 games, winning 5, drawing 5 and losing 5. They were relegated in the end. He was also still working with Scotland part time, a job he resigned from in the summer. The following season (09/10) he won the league with ICT and promotion back to the Scottish Prem. They were also unbeaten away from home for the entire 2010 calendar year. In the 10/11 season ICT finished 7th. In the 11/12 season they finished 10th. In the current season ICT sit in 2nd position, they are into the semi final of the Scottish League cup and the last 16 of the Scottish Cup.

Think thats why l did it, folk on here bairning on about his "English record" and how **** he was at other clubs without considering which jobs he took on, budgets, rock bottom club etc. Not many knew he took on Brentford whilst they were rock bottom and already relegated yet they are quick to point out how **** he did there. There's a reason why Jose takes on only the top clubs with loads of money and bails out when the **** hits the fan (Chelsea) makes his CV look good. I'd like to see him take on the QPR job and see what his win % would be.

Bfc are never going to get a faultless manager....like the players we get..they have flaws...if they dint they wouldn't be here.
Butcher is not perfect, but why would he be....I for one would feel fortunate that he would consider managing our club,in the circumstances we are in

That's a decent record to be fair, considering he took 9 years out of the game.

I presume at the time Coventry still considered themselves a prem team and mid table wasn't good enough

Don't see what context that puts anything in but I have learnt summat. I thought he did badly at Brentford in League One. Turns out it was League Two. Get him in.

Coventry were still a prem team, they got relegated around 1998.

I support Sydney. When T Butcher was there it was the lowpoint. It was very unfulfilling. Everyone was pleased when it was over.

I'll take that as a low point, 35pts in 23 games, makes for a 70 point season in a 46 game league. Sydney's supporters must have had the expectation levels of ours.

What do you think the expectations are of our fans?

I am pissed off with reading how some on here think our fans are **** and unrealistic. When in fact most of them are really grounded know just how skint we are, but dont want to lose every fecking game, which is why quite a few lost faith in Hill, not because they could not see what he was trying to do, just that he was not doing it . Now it seems we are tarred with unrealistic taunts because of who we would like as manager. So I ask again , What do YOU tink the expectations of the fans are seeing as you keep referring to them ?

It sounds great to me, which is why I would like him at Oakwell and have done from the word go.

I think the expectations of the fans are too high, I now see us as a top end League 1 club, we've been priced out of the Championship so l don't go to Oakwell expecting much these days, thats when l do go. In fact everytime we lose l get the call from the brother saying, "we've lost again" l think l've replied "what do you expect with our wage bill" every single time he's rang, now l can even quote him the wage bill figure when were up against teams with £10 million + wages. I no longer get wound up if we lose in the Championship l see us as punching above our weight anyway. Maybe a takeover, fresh income streams, average attendances of 13,000 or a rich chairman and l might believe we can begin to compete.
