Is it foolish to use them with the cancer risk? Apparently for under 30 year olds, it increases the chance of getting melanoma by EIGHT times? Anyone on here got any advice? Anyone use them? Cheers.
Not to be all down and that But a friend of mine has just been sent home from hospital to be allowed to die in peace from cancer that has affected his brain, spine, and lymph nodes, and has left him paralysed. It started a few years ago from a tiny melanoma that he got while sunbathing, so if sunbeds even give you a 1% higher chance of skin cancer, then stay away from them.
RE: Not to be all down and that Well my uncle God rest his soul died of skin cancer too... I just wondered if it's that dangerous how come there aren't loads of warnings about it? Ar lass has been using them recently now which worries me from what I read...
RE: who.... He is a TV presenter who hosts 'Bargain Hunt' and he's become quite well known... He's of a very orange complexion which is what FT's referring to! He also went on 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here' which further enhanced his popularity.
Journo No.
Just that mate.
Melanoma is not the only risk.
If you like a tan, do it slowly and naturally and while you have a high factor cream.

DONT EVER USE ONE!!! My sister had pre melanoma at the age of 30. Mole that looked wrong. She'd used sunbeds prior to going on hols. Two main causes of melanoma are sunburn as a child & sunbeds. She was lucky - had she left it a couple of months she could be battling full stage cancer - once you get skin cancer you have a 1 in 4 chance of survival. She has to have checks every year & I mean full body checks inside & out - not nice. She has to wear factor 30+ just to go outside,& can't have a sunshine holiday ever again. If you want a tan buy a spray on. Apart from anything else sunbathing / sunbeds actually age the skin, and when you are older the skin looks aged & wrinkly. Sorry, rant over - just something I feel strongly about having seen the trauma that vanity causes(NOOO)
Warnings There have been warnings but not to the same extent as for sunbathing.... ask any doctor they'll put you right. If you're worried re your girlfriend why don't you offer to pay for her to have a body spray on tan at a salon? About £30, lasts a few weeks, safe, takes less time. By the way the theory that going on a sunbed prior to a hol will stop you burning is complete & utter tosh.
