Anybody see the article from Richard Wilson (producer of Have I got News for You) about Grimethorpe and the miners strike. Apparently his Dad was pit manager and he grew up in Grimethorpe, bit of a hatchet job.
'thirty years after Scargills strike, Richard Wilson, the son of a colliery boss, recalls their mining village as a place not of solidarity but of violence, theft and greed'
'Close-knit? No it was the pit'
Wondered if anyone knew him back in the day

big leftie and a vocal supporter of the miners both in 1984-85 then during 1993 when the tories shut 30 odd pits in one go,the vast majority of which were producing a million + tonnes per year and making profits.

Doesn't sound like the same bloke who wrote the article , comes across as really bitter about his childhood and says the miners were over paid
