I haven't seen the yung uns play yet but from the reports on here and from a mate that has seen a couple of games it looks like we have a very good bunch of youngsters coming through, lets hope that hill is here long enough to bring them through and dare I say sell a few for good money, or use them to replace the older players he could well sell as part of his layering strategy, good times ahead me thinks.

Saw them for first time last week and i was amazed with how good some of them are. a few butterfield/rnls in there ect for sure.

digby could be better than butterfield imo.

this is the first time really in a long time we have a manager who isn't afraid of sticking a kid in to the mix if needed. My biggest concern with the academy is one that I have always voiced. There has always since it was established youth teams that have had players who looked like world beaters against other kids but failed to live up to the billing in the first team.
Hopefully this next crop will be the ones that do.

Not to take too much away from Keith Hill

But I don't think he's had much choice with the injuries we've had, especially at Derby, when we started with 3 academy players on the bench, and had to bring 2 of them on. In general the academy lads have done well when they've been required to make the step up, however I think if other options were available then maybe Hill wouldn't have risked the likes of Digby, Clark and Rose. For instance, if Davies is back tonight, I reckon he'd get a place on the bench ahead of Rose, although Rose has impressed when thrown into the mix.

There seems to be a fair few names who keep cropping up who are threatening to break into the team, Rose, Clark, Taylor, Digby, Lidakevicus; it's very encouraging, especially if money and our budget, is as tight as the club makes out.

Your right DEETEE but in the past we have had managers that have been reluctant to take a chance therefore stunting improvment, in Hill I think we have something different. Anyway loging out now, off to the pub, COME ON YOU REDS>
